Salford Seal Permanent Deal for Wrexham's Dan Scarr

Salford City have moved on deadline day to sign Wrexham defender Dan Scarr on a permanent, long-term deal, strengthening the back line as the League Two side push to turn a busy summer of recruitment into results.

Scarr joined Wrexham from Plymouth Argyle in August 2024 for a reported €352,000 fee, and has since become a regular fixture at the back for the Welsh club. Before that spell at Home Park, the defender came through a long non-league and lower-league route starting out at Causeway and Redditch, before spells at Stourbridge, Birmingham City (including a loan at Wycombe Wanderers) and Walsall.

A Busy Summer at the Peninsula Stadium

Scarr's arrival adds to what has already been a significant rebuild for Salford this summer. The Ammies have brought in a wave of new faces, including Joe Powell from Rotherham, goalkeepers Will Norris and Tom Myles, centre-back Will Aimson, forward Macaulay Langstaff from Millwall, winger Luke Molyneux, and further additions in Brendan Wiredu, Taylor Allen, Elliot Bonds, Abraham Odoh, Frankie McMahon-Brown and Loick Ayina the bulk of them arriving as free transfers.

It's a squad overhaul that reflects genuine ambition at the club heading into the new campaign. The early league form hasn't yet matched the business done in the market, though Salford sit bottom of League Two after three games without a point, having lost to Chesterfield and Shrewsbury either side of a penalty-shootout exit from the EFL Cup at the hands of the same Shrewsbury side. Scarr's experience at the back will be viewed as a step toward addressing that.
