Scarr Set to Leave Wrexham After Just 12 Months

Wrexham centre back Dan Scarr is being heavily linked with a return to League One after just one season with the Greyhounds, with Cardiff City, Reading, and former club Plymouth Argyle reportedly showing interest.

The 22-year-old centre back was brought for £352 ‘000 by Phil Parkinson’s side last season, and played 14 times in League One last season as the Hollywood backed side managed a third successive promotion to reach the second tier for the first time since 1982.

However, brought to the club in a backup capacity, it appears Scarr’s talents are no longer required as Wrexham embark upon their Championship survival journey. The interest from Cardiff is particularly notable, as there is talk of the Bluebirds offering former Arsenal centre back Calum Chambers in a swap deal to acquire Scarr.

Over the course of his career, which has seen him play for six different sides ranging from the second tier to non-league, Scarr has made 264 senior appearances, with 109 of these coming for suitors Plymouth.

Returning to the Pilgrims would make the most sense for the centre-back - familiar with the clubs surroundings, and a fan favourite during his three seasons at the club, he would be welcomed back to the south coast with open arms. However, it remains to be seen which deal his current club Wrexham will endorse.
