Sergio Gómez Sought After By Real Sociedad

04/07/24 20:03

Some might question who this man is in spite of his two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League medal, but Manchester City’s Sergio Gómez looks like he is on his way out to Real Sociedad in La Liga.

Fabrizio Romano, tier one rated source in Football Park’s system has stated that the Spanish left back is considered a priority for Real Sociedad amid a race between four other clubs vying for his services. City are keen on this move as a permanent deal has been offered, allowing them to put a buy back and sell on clause in his contract. The fee will cost the Erreala €9 million, getting the player for €1 million cheaper than his suggested market value of €10 million according to Transfermarkt.

Gómez has disappeared this season having played a total of 48 minutes in the Premier League out of a possible 3,420. However, he still managed to record one assist in a 5-1 victory over Fulham in game week four.

The move has come about because Scotland left back Kieran Tierney rejoins with Arsenal after spending last season on loan with Real. He helped Sociedad secure a sixth place spot in the league as well as a Round of 16 campaign in the UEEFA Champions League.

Sergio Gómez will want to achieve more than that next season and try and push for the top four places in La Liga and definitely try and earn more minutes. His last stint in La Liga didn’t end amazingly for him as he was part of the SD Huesca squad that were relegated in the 20/21 season.

Fabrizio Romano has reported this deal should be signed and completed soon with Real Sociedad officially opening negotiations on June 7th and he is undisputed when it comes to transfer rumours.
