Sheffield United Chasing Two New Arrivals Before Window Closure

Premier League hopefuls Sheffield United are looking to secure multiple new arrivals before the transfer window slams shut, and are now eyeing up moves for Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas and RB Salzburg defender Kamil Piatkowski, according to James Pearce and Rudy Galetti respectively.

On Koumas, The Blades face competition from big-spending Wrexham and Birmingham City, who may harbour Premier League aspirations of their own, with the 19-year-old Welshman making 43 Championship appearances on loan at Stoke City last season.

Sheffield United face further competition for the signature of Piatkowski as well, with another Championship side in Watford taking interest in the eight-times-capped Poland international, as well as La Liga side Getafe.

Blades Explore Move for Liverpool Talent

Lewis Koumas comes as a player with a years experience at Championship level already, having spent last season on loan with Stoke City, scoring three goals and laying on two assists as The Potters successfully battled against relegation to League One.

The 19-year-old has been on the books with Liverpool since he was 11-years-old, joining as a child after spending three years in the academy at Tranmere Rovers.

Koumas has also had a taste of experience with Liverpool's first-team - scoring the winner in their FA Cup 5th Round tie against Southampton on his senior debut in February 2024.

He scored on his full debut for Stoke City, too, netting on his first-ever league start in an eventual 2-1 loss away to West Bromwich Albion in August of the same year.

Praised for his direct style of play and bout of pace, Koumas would provide competition for Aston Villa loanee Louie Barry, who has started both of Sheffield United's games thus far in the Championship, wherein The Blades lost 4-1 to Bristol City and 1-0 away to Swansea.

Sheffield United are interested in a loan move for the youngster, as are Hull City and Preston North End. Wrexham and Birmingham are believed to be the main clubs chasing his signature, with both clubs more interested in a permanent transfer.

Poland National Defender of Interest to Selles

Kamil Piatkowski of the Poland national team is the other player that Sheffield United have explored a move for over the last passing days.

The 25-year-old, who stands at 6'3 and is comfortable both as a central defender and a right-back, has spent the second half of each of his last three campaigns out on loan - with Belgian side Gent, Spanish side Granada and Turkish club Kasimpasa respectively.

The Polish international, who has won eight caps for his national team, impressed in particular during his time in Turkey, putting on several strong performances towards the back end of the season to help guide the side to a 10th-placed finish in the Super Lig.

Piatkowski has entered into the final year of his contract with Salzburg, and the Austrian side are reportedly open to moving him away on a permanent deal, with Sheffield United looking to bolster a backline that has seen star defender Anel Ahmedhodzic sold to Dutch giants Feyenoord in this window.

They have already brought in Nottingham Forest talent Tyler Bindon in central defence and Bulgarian talent Mihail Polendakov from Semptemvri on the right of their back line, but are now looking into a move for Piatkowski amidst interest from around Europe - fellow Championship side Watford and La Liga's Getafe are amongst the chasing pack, with lesser interest shown from several un-named Italian sides.
