Burnley’s Joe Worrall has emerged as a late window target for Sheffield United, as Chris Wilder looks to strengthen his leaky backline.
The English centre-back was a titan in defence for Nottingham Forest, playing over 200 times across eight seasons, but has failed to make his mark at Burnley, playing just 21 times in the past two seasons.
Wilder is keen to strengthen his back line, which has conceded 42 league goals this season — the fifth-highest total in the Championship.

It is understood the move would be structured as a loan, with Worrall set to join Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever as the second Premier League loanee in the Blades’ back line if the deal goes through.
Space in the side has been freed up as a result of former loanees Louie Barry and Ben Godfrey returning to their parent clubs, Aston Villa and Atalanta, respectively.
With just over five hours left of the transfer window, the 7 pm deadline is moving fast, and Sheffield United will have to move quickly in order to secure Worrall’s signature.
Worrall’s experience at Championship level will be seen as a key factor in United’s interest. The former Nottingham Forest man captained the side during their promotion-winning campaign in the 2021/22 season.
