Should Jadon Sancho be swapped for Ugarte?
After Manchester United agreed on personal terms with PSG defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, talks have been progressing between the two clubs to complete a deal, could those talks now become easier with the inclusion of Jadon Sancho?
According to PSG insider Santi Aouna, the French giants have sent a contract offer to Sancho with the England international reportedly excited by the project they have presented, it now seems up to United whether they are looking to move him on.

Until now it seemed likely Sancho would stay in Manchester, he returned to training after resolving last season’s falling out with manager Erik ten Hag and even featured and impressed in United’s 2-0 pre-season win over Rangers. However if PSG are looking to sign him, and with Ugarte set to come the other way, a swap deal would make the perfect sense.
PSG reportedly want £70m for Ugarte, a fee United likely will not match and so including Sancho in the deal to bring the price down whilst not losing any value for PSG seems logical.
There is also the matter of the emergence of Amad Diallo alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony on the wings, as well as Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Xavi Simons, there is a depth of competition across all the positions Sancho best operates. Diallo in particular looks set to take on the majority of time at right-wing, either starting or in rotation with Garnacho in light of Diallo’s impressive performances and Antony’s struggles.

On the flip side, PSG will be needing to inject some new life into their attack following the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. The fit for Sancho and PSG seems perfect at this stage. He provides the Parisiens with the flexibility to deploy him as an attacking midfielder, on the wing or even potentially as a false 9 in their 4-3-3 formation and brings a spark of creativity to the attack, with 102 career goals + assists.
For United, moving on from Sancho makes sense if it results in reinvestment in other areas of the squad, and completing a deal for one of the most promising midfielders in Europe fills that criteria.
After Casemiro’s disappointing season and reports all summer of him eventually departing the club, a solid defensive midfielder was a priority for United and Ugarte will fill that hole and then some. At just 23-years-old he played 25 games last season and compared to his potential predecessor he had more ball recoveries, tackles, interceptions and a higher pass percentage per 90 minutes.

Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football.
Club-to-club talks continue with PSG, as more clubs also inquired.

Adding Ugarte to an already bolstered defence with the signing of Leny Yoro will provide much more security compared to the defence that conceded 58 goals in the Premier League last season.
It’s a deal that could certainly be on the table and makes perfect sense for both sides with each team filling a need in their squads in a win-win situation.
