Southampton Cause Massive Upset vs Premier League Leaders - Football Park's FA Cup Quarter Final Roundup

Football Park are here to bring you the roundup from all three of our quarter final fixtures today.

Haaland Hat-Trick Fires City Past Liverpool

Manchester City 4-0 Liverpool - Haaland (x3), Semenyo

This was ruthless from City.

On paper it looks fairly even, and for large parts it actually was. Same number of shots, similar possession, both sides moving the ball well. But the difference was simple… City were clinical, Liverpool were not. Haaland stepping up just before half time with the penalty changed everything.

And from that moment, Liverpool completely fell apart. You could see it straight away. Heads dropped, mistakes started creeping in, and City just smelt blood. The second goal right before the break killed the game, and from there it was just about how many.

Semenyo added another early in the second half before Haaland completed his hat-trick, and it turned into a demolition. Liverpool missed their chances at key moments.

Two big chances, neither taken, and at this level that is what punishes you. But more importantly, their reaction after conceding was poor. No resilience, no fight to get back into it.

For Arne Slot, the pressure is building. Performances like this are not good enough, and with results not going their way, time is slowly starting to run out.

Chelsea Run Riot in Complete Cup Domination

Chelsea 7-0 Port Vale - Hato, Pedro, OG (Lawrence-Gabriel), Adarabioyo, Nascimento, Estêvão, Garnacho

From the very first minute, you could tell there was only going to be one winner. Hato scoring after just two minutes set the tone, and from there it was wave after wave of Chelsea pressure.

76% possession tells you everything. Port Vale barely had a kick all game. Chelsea completely controlled it, moving the ball with ease and creating chance after chance. 20 shots, 11 on target and it could have easily been more with five big chances missed as well.

By the time Pedro made it two, the game was already done.

The third just before half time summed up Port Vale’s night with an own goal, and the second half was just more of the same. Goals kept coming, confidence kept growing, and Chelsea were just enjoying themselves at that point.

Port Vale did not register a single shot on target. That says it all.

For Chelsea, this is exactly what you want in a cup game. Comfortable, dominant and a real statement heading into the semi finals.

Southampton Stun Arsenal to Reach Semi Finals

Southampton 2-1 Arsenal - Stewart, Charles | Gyokeres

This is what the FA Cup is all about.

On paper, this should not have been close. Arsenal dominated the ball, had 23 shots, nearly 64% possession, and controlled most of the game. But football is not played on paper.

Southampton were clinical.

Stewart’s goal in the first half came at the perfect time, completely against the run of play and it gave them something to hold onto. From there, it was all about discipline and taking their moments.

Arsenal did respond. Gyokeres got them back into it midway through the second half and at that point it felt like the pressure was only going one way. 7 shots on target, 9 corners, they were pushing hard for a winner.

But they just could not find it. And then came the moment. Charles in the 85th minute, completely flipping the game on its head again. One chance, taken perfectly, and that was enough.

Southampton did not need many chances. They took the ones they had.

For Arsenal, this is a massive missed opportunity. For Southampton, it is a huge upset and a place in the semi finals. Lets see if Arsenal bring this bottle into the Premier League...
