Southampton Legend Returns Home

Southampton have announced the signing, or more to the point, resigning, of Adam Lallana from Brighton & Hove Albion on a one year deal.

Lallana’s contract with the Seagulls expired at the end of last season after four years with the club.

But his former side Southampton have swooped in to bring him home to St. Mary’s.

The now 36 year old midfielder spent 14 years with the Saints previously moving through their youth academy before joining up with the senior team in 2000. He made over 250 appearances for the club before leaving for Liverpool in 2014.

Speaking on his return to the club Lallana said,

“I’m extremely happy to come back to where it all started.”

The move back to Southampton felt right in my head and in my heart that it was something I needed to pursue”

“I’m really confident that I’ve still got a lot to give to this football club.”

Lallana is the first signing under Southampton’s new manager Russell Martin, and is the first signing for the club since their promotion back to the Premier League.

Could he be the first component towards their Premier League survival in 2024/25?
