Southgate reveals MASSIVE 33-Man England Squad

21/05/24 13:24

Gareth Southgate has revealed his preliminary squad for this summer's Euros in Germany and he has made some ruthless calls.

Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford have all missed out on the Euros squad. All three players were on the scoresheet for the Three Lions in Qatar just 17 months ago.

Here is the full squad:

Goalkeepers

Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace) and James Trafford (Burnley)

Defenders

Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Lewis Dunk (Brighton), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Jarell Quansah (Liverpool), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United) and Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Midfielders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Declan Rice (Arsenal) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace).

Forwards

Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), James Maddison (Tottenham Hotspur), Cole palmer (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ivan Toney (Brentford) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).

The squad size for the Euros will have to be 26 players which means 7 players in this squad won't be on the plane for England. No matter who Gareth selects to miss out, this is a very inexperienced England side which can be pointed out by the fact that half of the forwards are yet to score at a tournament for England.

It seems like Southgate has finally given the people what they want but only time will tell if he was right to do so.
