Stoke City Sign Slovakian Midfielder Tomas Rigo

Stoke City have today confirmed the signing of Slovakian Midfielder Tomas Rigo from Banik Ostrava on a 4-year deal.

The 23-year-old joins The Potters for a fee of just over £4m including add-ons as Stoke further strengthen after their excellent start to the Championship season.

Rigo joined Banik Ostrava in 2023, where he played an integral part across two seasons at the club. Rigo is also an international in the Slovakian national team having played 3 U21 games and bagging 2 assists for his country already this year.

Stoke Finally Get Their Man

Stoke City have been chasing the midfielders signature all summer with a lot of uncertainty arising over whether the deal would ever be completed.

Rigo made his way to England after playing his final game for Banik in a Europa Conference League play-off tie on Thursday night, before completing his medical on Friday ahead of his unveiling this morning.

Rigo becomes Stoke's 11th signing of the window in what has been a transformative summer for The Potters as they look to rally a bid to return to the Premier League this season.

Slovakian Connection

Rigo looks to wrap up Stoke City's business this summer, barring any last minute outgoings and, as mentioned, joins a long list of incomings for Stoke in this window.

Stoke have welcomed in a plethora of talent including winger Lamine Cisse and Maksym Taloverov from Plymouth, with a poetic return for Steven Nzonzi also making the headlines.

Rigo also has his Slovakian teammate Robert Bozenik for company who joined Stoke in July on a free transfer from Boavista in the second division of Portugal.
