Bundesliga giants Werder Bremen have reportedly begun monitoring the situation of a wantaway Derby County striker ahead of the coming January transfer window.
Out of Bremen's three out-and-out striker options available at the club, including star signing Victor Boniface, only one of them has managed to find the back of the net as the four-time Bundesliga champions battle it out in 12th position in the league so far this season.
As such, they have begun to identify new targets to bolster their attack ahead of the winter window and are looking into potential loan moves to add to their firepower, which includes Derby's forward, who is reportedly unhappy with a lack of opportunities afforded to him at Pride Park this season.
MLS side Toronto FC are interested in signing Ben Brereton Diaz, the club have made no contact with Southampton as of yet but there is genuine interest, the player would need to be recalled from his loan in order for negotiations to start. #dcfc #dcfcfans

Norwegian striker Lars-Jorgen Salvesen is the striker in question, with the forward allegedly unhappy with his current situation with Derby County, having only made three EFL Championship starts this season, despite a hefty ankle injury suffered by star striker Carlton Morris.
After Morris limped away from a 3-2 defeat at home to Watford back in November, Salvesen went on to start the next three games for The Rams and managed to pick up an assist against Middlesbrough and scored what would eventually be the winner of a 2-1 overcoming of Swansea City. These have been his only starts of the season so far.

Despite decent showings from a starting berth, manager John Eustace has not selected Salvesen in either of Derby's previous two matches - a 1-1 draw with Millwall that saw Ben Brereton-Diaz and Patrick Agyemang deployed in a two-striker setup, and a 3-0 battering of lowly Sheffield Wednesday that saw the two pushed onto the wings with Rhian Brewster playing centrally instead.
With four league goal contributions to his name from his 23 Championship appearances since joining Derby from Norwegian side Viking for £1m in the winter window of 2025, Salvesen is reportedly open to making an early-ish exit from the club as this winter window opens as he approaches the one-year mark of joining the club, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Werder Bremen, who have struggles aplenty when it comes to their attacking regiment, have earmarked Salvesen for a transfer this winter. It remains to be known whether or not a deal will take shape in full, or whether the deal will be permanent or temporary.
