Surprise Move on the Cards for the Scotland Captain

Andy Robertson has had a successful eight and a half years at Liverpool, winning nine major trophies including the Premier League title twice as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2019. But as his contract is currently expiring, a surprise move to a fellow Premier League club is on the cards for the Scotland Captain.

The Athletic's David Ornstein is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are working on a deal to bring Andy Robertson to the club.

Tottenham had initially identified the 31-year-old as a summer signing, for when his contract expires at Liverpool in the end of June, but a move to bring the left-back to North London has been brought forward in a bid to strengthen Thomas Frank's squad and negotiations are advancing for a move before the end of the January Transfer Window.

Robertson has recently slipped behind Milos Kerkez in the pecking order, despite being named the club's vice-captain in August, and Liverpool have an option to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Serie A side Roma.

Tottenham are targeting Robertson for his leadership, his experience; as currently Joao Palhinha is the only player available for Tottenham who is 30 years old or above, and the strengthen of options in the defence
