Swansea Lead Race To Sign MLS Striker Ibrahim

Swansea have leapfrogged Wrexham in the race to sign Nigerian striker Sunusi Ibrahim from MLS side CF Montreal, according to Pete O'Rourke.

Ibrahim, now frozen out of the Montreal first team, has been linked with a move to Wrexham throughout the summer after their promotion to the Championship last season. However, it is now thought that their Welsh counterparts Swansea have moved ahead in the race to agree a deal for the Nigerian.

After the striker making it crystal clear that a move to English football is on the cards, Ibrahim has been a sought after talent this summer. It now looks like South Wales is the most likely destination for the MLS talent.

An Intriguing Prospect

Registering over a hundred appearances already for the Canadian side at the age of just 22, Ibrahim has established himself as a consistent feature of CF Montreal's starting eleven in recent seasons.

Joining from Nigerian football in January 2021, Ibrahim has notched 20 goals since his arrival, which has also seen him gain an international cap for Nigeria in this time.

Now looking to make the next step in his career, the young striker has attracted interest from English football with Swansea now the front-runners for the striker's signature.

A Welcome Addition

If Swansea are to be successful in the signing of Ibrahim, the addition of the Nigerian would bring much-needed firepower and depth to the Swansea front line. The Welsh club have been linked with a whole host of strikers this summer.

With the likes of Zeidane Inoussa and Bobby Wales already amongst the recruitments this summer, manager Alan Sheehan will be keen to add to his ranks for the season ahead.
