Swansea City have targeted Chelsea’s Harrison Murray-Campbell as the subject of their late deadline day swoop, reports WalesOnline’s Tom Coleman.
This would be the highly rated 19-year-old’s first venture away from the Blues academy and into the EFL. The six-foot-two defender has scored six goals this season for Chelsea’s U21 team and is a current England U20 international.
The versatile defender can play anywhere in a defensive line, and would be the Swans’ second defensive addition this January, after the experience of Joel Ward was drafted in earlier in the month.
The 19-year-old will challenge Cameron Burgess and Ben Cabango for their seemingly cemented first eleven positions at the back, or at least provide strong cover should either pick up an injury.
The Blues youngster is not expected to start instantly, due to his lack of experience in senior football. Born in Bedfordshire, HMC has been a Chelsea player since he was eight years old, and recently extended his time at Cobham with a new contract.

He will follow in the footsteps of countless Chels youngsters who have been developed in the EFL. In a recent interview, he stated, “Seeing players like Reece and Levi make it is so motivating… They show it’s possible to go from the academy to the first team.”
Swansea City also played a huge part in Marc Guehi’s development, taking the Man City man on loan for a season from Chelsea’s academy at the age of 20, and we all know how that ended!
