Thiago Alcantara Joins Barcelona Coaching Staff

17/07/24 15:10

Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich man, Thiago Alcantara, has joined the coaching staff at Barcelona.

Thiago retired from Football just this summer, after a string of injuries hampered his career at Liverpool, and is already back in the game. He’s only with the Catalan club on a temporary basis, in order to gain experience as a coach.

He’ll join new Barca manager Hansi Flick, who managed the midfielder at Bayern Munich, as part of the first team staff over summer. Flick and Thiago won a treble with Bayern Munich in the only season they were both at the club. This means Thiago will join the squad on their pre-season tour of the USA.

Thiago will act as a link between the players and manager, and also act as a translator given he is competent with both Spanish and German.

The talented midfielder came through La Masia and made his first team debut in the 2009/10 season, before moving to Bayern in 2013 for €25 million.
