Thomas Tuchel Comments on Debate Surrounding his Nationality

Thomas Tuchel was today appointed as the new manager for the England national team.

After a very successful stint at tops clubs in Europe including Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich; Tuchel has made the step into managing on the international stage.

The German has an illustrious CV, and was quite frankly the best candidate for the job. However, there has been grumbles from a select group of England fans, given the history between our nation and Germany.

What did Tuchel say on the subject?

In his first press conference as Three Lions boss, a lot of the questions asked were sparked by the debate of his nationality.

After a jestful apology for the nationality on his passport, the Champions League winner gave many serious responses to the questions.

As per Sky Sports, Tuchel said: "Everyone has their opinion and I can understand when someone says they would fancy an English coach more for the English team.

"I can understand it, but I think we deserve a fair chance. We deserve it for having a good record, for never being shy of how much we love living here and working with Premier League players.

"Maybe this counts a little bit for a British edge on my German passport, so we will try to convince the fans by results and how we play."

When prompted further, Tuchel added: "All of these supporters felt my passion for the Premier League and the country. I loved to live here.

"Hopefully I can show them that I am proud to be the English manager and I will do everything to show respect to this job and this country."
