Three New Deals at Queens Park Rangers
Despite a run of three games without a win, there’s still reason for Queens Park Rangers fans to be excited this season.
Marti Cifuentes appears to be building a good project, and the R’s have finally invested some funds towards their squad. At the beginning of the season, many would've seen QPR as an outside shout to slip into the relegation spots, but they’ve created a good foundation this far.
Not only that, but they’ve managed to tie down three key members of their squad and coaching staff to new deals in the past 24 hours. Without further ado, here’s what the R’s have been up to.
The Spaniard was appointed back in October 2023, when QPR looked in serious threat of relegation, but Cifuentes was able to steady the ship and has gained the backing of their following.
Fears would’ve cropped up of Cifuentes being poached last summer, perhaps by a higher-end Championship side with heavier financial backing, given how well he turned QPR around with a depleted squad.
However, the West London side have been able to secure both Cifuentes and his assistant Xavi Calm to new deals, of an undisclosed length.

In another stellar piece of business, QPR managed to tie down talented defender Jake Clarke-Salter to a new deal.
The former Chelsea man headed to Loftus Road back in 2022, and has made 54 appearances, securing the 2023/24 player of the season award. He’s really taken to life under Cifuentes, and was linked to plenty of clubs last summer.
However, the Englishman is clearly settled in Shepherd's Bush, given he’s signed an undisclosed long-term deal with the R’s.

The third, and arguably most exciting, announcement that QPR made yesterday was the agreement to make Karamoko Dembele’s loan permanent in the upcoming summer.
Despite links to Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi last summer, The R’s decided instead to bring Dembele to Loftus Road for a much less significant loan fee. Despite spending last season on loan at League One’s Blackpool, Brest sent Dembele back out on loan to QPR this season, this time with a permanent option.
Although Dembele’s ‘wonderkid’ status faltered since leaving Celtic, it appears the winger is once again finding his feet in England’s second tier.
Still only 21, Dembele has scored three goals in his six league appearances so far this campaign, QPR fans will be delighted to hear that he’s going to be staying in W12 past this season.
