Top 5 Players Who Have Created The Most Chances In EFL League One So Far This Season

30/08/24 14:56

Recently, we had a look at the players who have created the most chances in the EFL Championship so far this season.

And with the League One season being well underway now and continuing this weekend we thought we would have a look at who has created the most chances in the league so far.

(All stats found on Fotmob)

5 - Reece Cole - Exeter City - 7 Chances Created

Exeter have started off the season by picking up 3 points from their opening 3 games - currently sitting 17th in the league and scoring just 3 goals. However they haven’t been short of chances with Cole creating 7 opportunities for them.

Cole is currently averaging around 2.8 chances created per 90 proving that one of Exeter’s biggest issues so far this year has been putting the ball in the back of the net.

If they could begin to convert some of these chances, Exeter will surely greatly improve.

4 - Luke Thomas - Bristol Rovers - 8 Chances Created

Another player in a similar position is Bristol Rovers’ Luke Thomas who has created 8 chances this season so far.

Arguably, despite picking up more points than Exeter, this is worse though with Bristol scoring just 1 goal this campaign.

The chances are clearly there for Thomas and his teammates however if they are to improve they will need to start taking some of them. An average of 2.7 chances per 90 is a step in the right direction though it is just the finishing touch that needs improving.

3 - Jeremy Kelly - Crawley Town - 9 Chances Created

Crawley are a side that have shocked everyone with their start to the season and one of the reasons they have been performing so well is because of Jeremy Kelly.

Kelly is averaging 3 chances created per game and with the Red Devils creating over 50 chances in the opening 3 games Kelly is normally the man behind the attacking play.

If Crawley are to prove everyone wrong this season and stay in the division, Kelly’s chance creation abilities could have a key part to play.

2 - Lee Evans - Blackpool - 10 Chances Created

It is joint top spot for Blackpool’s Lee Evans who only misses out on top spot due to his average.

And it isn’t a bad average either with 3.3 chances created per 90.

Blackpool have created 56 chances in the league this season and Evans is normally the man behind those chances. And despite struggling Blackpool have scored the joint 3rd most goals in the league this season. Evans being a key contributor to that.

It is just unfortunate that Blackpool have been a shambles defensively because Blackpool could be a lot higher in the table otherwise.

Evans will need to keep creating this number of chances and surely Blackpool can hold on to their place in League One this season or even potentially start making strides to higher places.

1 - Mickel Miller - Huddersfield Town - 10 Chances Created

But top spot goes to Huddersfield’s Mickel Miller who has created 10 chances so far this season - holding an average of 3.9 chances created per 90.

Miller is one of the main reasons behind Huddersfield’s fast start and if he can keep up these sorts of numbers he could be the reason behind their promotion party come the end of the year.
