Chelsea Interested in Zubimendi And Gibbs-White as Deadline Nears

With Enzo Fernandez potentially moving in a record breaking deal to Manchester City, Chelsea could turn towards a late move for a Premier League star, with Martin Zubimendi and Morgan Gibbs-White both of interest to the Blues according to Ben Jacobs.

The Argentine has been subject of strong interest to Manchester City for some time, and it appears a deal is moving in the right direction on deadline day, with an expectation the deal will eventually be completed for around £120 million.

With that in mind, Chelsea are searching for a potential replacement if the midfielder leaves Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are reportedly interested in both Morgan Gibbs-White and Martin Zubimendi.

Gibbs-White, of course, would prove as a very difficult deal to get done this late in the window, given his importance to Nottingham Forest who are adamaent their talisman will not be leaving the City Ground with no replacement lined up, 18 months left on his deal and seven hours of the window to go.

Whilst Zubimendi from Arsenal will prove similar, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is a big fan of the Gunners midifelder having been interested in signing him for Real Madrid before his move to North London.

And with the addition of Bruno Guiamries and the impressive form of Myles Lewis-Skelly since featuring more in central midfield, Zubimendi's stature of a starting player at Arsenal is seemingly in danger, which could see Chelsea pounce on an opportunity to sign the Spanish midfielder - a new report has stated that Arteta is fine to sanction his sale for north of £60m.

Despite that, Arsenal are unlikely to sell to a rival in the final hours of the transfer window, but a move for Zubimendi by Chelsea in the future could be a possibility if the Spaniard does not recieve the minutes he ideally wants at Emirates Stadium.
