Under 21s Team of the Week: The Young Ballers

This week’s EFL matches saw several young players under 21 deliver exceptional performances across the pitch. Here's a look at the top talents, from goalkeeper to striker, who made a big impact.

Goalkeeper: Filip Marschall

Marschall was a rock in goal, making five crucial saves, three of which were game-changing. His shot-stopping ability kept his team in the match during pivotal moments.

Right Centre-Back: Kellen Fisher

Fisher had an outstanding performance at right-back. Defensively sound, he also contributed to the attack with some smart passes, offering support to the forwards and joining offensive plays.

Centre-Back: Levi Colwill

Levi Colwill was solid at the back against West Ham, making just one mistake during an otherwise flawless performance. His commanding presence helped his team maintain control and defend well throughout the game.

Left Centre-Back: Callum Doyle

Callum Doyle not only held down the defense but also scored a fantastic goal from outside the box. He later pushed forward as a left-back, delivering crosses and contributing an assist, showcasing his versatility.

Right Wing: Jude Boyd

Boyd impressed on the right wing, scoring an incredible goal from 30 meters out after beating both the goalkeeper and defenders with a brilliant touch. His timing and positioning were key to his goal-scoring effort.

Central Midfielder: Cameron Humphreys

Cameron Humphreys continues to prove his readiness for higher-level football, delivering yet another excellent performance this week. He added to his tally by scoring a goal, reinforcing his reputation as a standout midfielder.

Central Midfielder: Chris Rigg

Rigg is an exciting young talent who also plays for England U18. He was impressive on both the attacking and defensive sides of the game, displaying composure under pressure and excelling in the midfield battle.

Left Wing: Lino Sousa

Starting on the right but moving to the left, Lino Sousa shone throughout the match. His left-footed crosses were a constant threat, and he assisted one of his team's goals, adding creativity from the wing.

Attacking Midfielder: Leo Castledine

Castledine, playing in the number 10 role, was active throughout the match, often arriving in the box like a striker during attacking plays and dropping deep to help in midfield. Though it wasn’t his best game, he still managed to score one and missed another chance with a header.

Striker: Samson Tovide

Tovide showcased his technical ability with an amazing assist, turning smoothly without touching the ball and delivering a precise cross. He also scored a goal, making him one of the key offensive contributors.

Striker: Nathan Lowe

Lowe was clinical, scoring a superb goal with the inside of his right foot from a difficult cross. He also provided a great assist, making a deft touch before setting up a teammate for a goal.

These young players continue to leave their mark on the EFL with performances that show maturity beyond their years. From defensive solidity to attacking brilliance, they represent the future of English football.
