Werder Bremen Set Sights on Young Striker

11/06/24 13:07

According to Florian Plettenberg, who Football Park rates as a tier one reliable source, Werder Bremen are close in their hunt to re-sign Keke Topp.

The German u20 International moved to Schalke from Bremen back in 2021 as a free agent, but now Die Werderaner are looking to bring him back to the club.

Topp has scored five and provided two assists for teammates across this Bundesliga 2 campaign, as Schalke finished 10th in the second division. Meanwhile, Bremen narrowly missed out on Europa Conference qualification, via goal difference.

It appears that Topp will be heading back to Werder Bremen after three years at Schalke, for a fee of around €2.5 million. With negotiations in the final stages, and a verbal agreement reached between the two sides, it's to be expected that the deal will be complete in the coming days.

It seems that the German will sign a deal stretching at least until 2027 with Bremen, keeping him at the club until he is at least 23 years old.

Topp is yet to complete a medical, but given he has never picked up a long term injury, I expect this deal to cross the line soon.

Werder Bremen have a history of nurturing young talent, with notable players like Josh Sargent and Maximilian Eggestein passing through their doors at some point.
