West Ham Might be the New Leicester While Rivals Top - Championship Round-Up Match Week 2

The Championship is back for its second game week. We are starting to see some sides click and some who still look like they’re on holiday. There was a total of 35 goals scored this weekend, and we even saw 2 red cards. So, what happened?

Brimingham 2-2 Bristol City

The first match of the weekend saw 2 goals scored in the first half. By the same side however, one was in the wrong net. Scott Twine would put Bristol ahead before Sam Tickle put one into his own net just 3 minutes before half time.

It would then take until the 86th minute before another shot found the back of the net. This time it was Dominic Ballard who would put Bristol ahead once again. But in the 95th minute Birmingham had a chance from the spot and Demarai Gray would put it away and levelling up the game.

It was a game that ended in a fair result, Birmingham saw more of the ball, however, Bristol saw more chances. So, a level scoring field seems fair.

Lincoln vs Portsmouth

This one had headlines in it. Chelsea loanee McQueen would manage to score in this game and like his name suggests it was fast. In just 7 minutes he made Portsmouth take the lead. Adrian Segecic would then double the lead in the 16th minute. Lincoln got one back after a spot kick from Reeco Hackett. Ebou Adams would be the man to put the game to bed as he made it 3-1.

Lincoln could be in line for a long season at this rate. As expected for a newly promoted side.

Millwall 3-0 Norwich

Millwall are back and looking for promotion. Tairyk Arconte looks to be spearheading this charge. In the 18th minute he would help Millwall take the lead and then 40 minutes later had his second.

The last goal would come in the 85th minute as Luke Cundle would bag. It was dominance from Millwall, and they will be hoping this momentum keeps going and driving them forward.

Blackburn 2-1 Middlesbrough

From one promotion favourite from last season to another. Middlesbrough looked to have started the game well as Jeremy Sarmiento would score in the 12th minute. However, the second half didn’t go their way.

After 10 minutes they were behind. Andri Gudjohnsen would level the game before Todd Cantwell help Blackburn take the lead. It was a game that Middlesbrough should’ve got more from but couldn’t create the chances they needed.

Derby 2-2 Cardiff

This game had action in the first half 3 goals in just 45 minutes. Cian Ashford would get the game underway in the 19th minute for Cardiff. However, Carlton Morris would level the game up just before the half hour mark. Yousef Salech would get Cardiff back in the lead 6 minutes before halftime.

However, the action didn’t stop after halftime, in fact just 4 minutes after the second half started Bobby Clark had the game back to level terms and that’s how it would end. Both sides showed their quality going forward and a draw was just about the correct outcome.

Preston 1-3 Wolves

Wolves were on fire this game. It took just 8 minutes before their quality was shown as Fer Lopez would score. The next goal would come in the 72nd minute as Wolves finally found another way through. This time it was Adam Armstrong. Then 10 minutes later with his second and Wolves 3rd Lopez scored.

Jordan Thompson got one goal back, but it was too little too late and the game ended 3-1. Wolves Prem quality showed that they could be a problem this season.

QPR 0-0 Bolton

This game might seem boring on the surface, but it might have already seen the single best performance of the season. Jack Bonham takes a bow. QPR were all over Bolton and if it wasn’t for this man they could’ve won 3 4-0. He made 10 saves and stopped everything that came at him. QPR absolutely should’ve won, however, you sometimes must give an applause to someone and that is this time.

Southampton 3-1 Stoke

Stoke might have changed their badge, however, the performances haven’t changed. They were dismantled. It started bad as Cyle Larin would allow Southampton to take the lead in just 8 minutes. However, Ethan Galbraith would get the game level in the 27th minute.

The game was won in the 89th minute as Divin Mubama would score the second for the Saints. However, was completely ended in the 93rd when Stoke went down to 10 as Svante Ingelsson was given a second yellow. Southampton would then have a spot kick and Ryan Manning would convert for 3-1.

Swansea 0-0 Sheffield United

This saw 2 sides who showed that their attackers aren’t quiet back yet. Swansea only managed 1 shot on target from 9 shots. However, Sheffield United only got 2 from 12. Neither side could find that extra quality to win the game. Therefore, they would share and points in a fair result.

West Ham 1-2 Charlton

Oh dear West Ham. Your rivals are top of the league, and you have already lost. This isn’t to take it away from them, Okonkwo had an amazing performance with 8 saves made, however, they had their chances.

After 7 minutes they were 1 down due to Lloyd Jones. Tyreece Campbell would then add more pain in the 56th minute before Joel Piroe got one back. They have a chance to steel a point in the 93rd minute from the spot. However, Castellanos failed to convert, and it would end in a loss.

West Ham will be hoping that this will be their warning and now they will pick up the momentum to go back to the Prem and not become Leicester V2.

Wrexham 1-1 Watford

This game saw some action; however, the goals were over before the clock hit 30 minutes. Luca Kjerrumgaard would allow Watford to take the lead. However, Daniel Imray would level the game in the 22nd minute.

It’s a game Wrexham will be disappointed in missing both their big chances. However, it is still early as they look to fight for promotion once again.

West Brom 3-1 Burnley

West Ham fans it could be worse. Burnley were battered. They didn’t even score as they took the lead in the 8th minute due to a Styles own goal. However, 10 minutes later Whitwell would level the game up. Then Isaac Price would strike in the 47th minute and then again from the spot in the 65th for a 3-1 victory.
