West Ham are set to make a surprise move for former Tottenham and England defender Eric Dier this winter, according to talkSPORT.
The 31-year-old defender has been offered to The Hammers in a surprising twist, despite only having joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco as early as the summer of 2025 from Bavarian heavyweights Bayern Munich.
After two years away from the Premier League, a move to the London Stadium would represent a return to working under Nuno Espirito Santo - the pair worked together in Nuno's 17-game stint in North London, with Dier featuring 11 times under his watch.
West Ham have been active in the window so far, having secured the signings of strikers Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe, whereas star midfielder Lucas Paqueta is set to leave the club for Flamengo in his native Brazil in the coming days.
Eric Dier making a move to West Ham would represent a dose of highly-necessary quality in the Hammers' backline.
Nuno Santo's side are under a heavy relegation threat this term, sitting in 18th in the Premier League table seven points adrift of next-club-up Nottingham Forest - the club Nuno left near the start of the season to take over from Graham Potter in London.

At this stage nothing is advanced yet, but it is an interesting opportunity for them after @ExWHUEmployee and confirmed.
He is still under contract with AS Monaco until 2028.… pic.twitter.com/lt1MepvDvr
Dier brings a wealth of experience from his playing days so far. The defender has won 49 caps for the England national team, bagging three goals along the way, and has amassed a whopping 274 Premier League appearances in his career - all with Tottenham, for whom he joined from Portuguese side Sporting in 2014 and spent a decade with.
West Ham United have not won a single league affair since the 8th of November, which was a slim 3-2 thriller with fellow relegation scrappers Burnley. They have added reinforcement to their front line with Pablo and Castellanos (though optimism is not running high in regards to their new strikers) but the prominent issue has appeared to be their defensive areas all season long.
The only correction there should be between Eric Dier and West Ham is this. pic.twitter.com/X1qZOTSWT2 https://t.co/orLJSh9gGW

Max Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos have been regarded by many as being one of the worst centre back duos in the entire Premier League, so adding a defender with over 250 top-flight appearances as well as strong performances with two of the top clubs in Germany and France would go a long way in addressing their issues.
