Which clubs have lost the most games in Premier League history?
Today, Southampton lost 3-0 to Manchester United meaning they have now lost 400 Premier League games since the division began in 1992.
And that got us wondering… which teams have lost the most games in Premier League history?

The first team on our list is the team that inspired this article, Southampton.
This year is Southampton’s 24th year in the top flight of English football after returning to the league this season. And so far this season they have lost all 4 of their games.
Believe it or not they weren’t in 5th place on this list before those losses it was Tottenham Hotspur - however after hitting 400 Premier League losses Southampton make it into this list. And here is a chance they go further up this list later in the season.
29 seasons in the Premier League for Newcastle have mostly been filled with highs. However they come 4th in this list having lost 407 Premier League games this season.
Although they might not lose as much anymore - after all they are yet to lose any of their games so far this season - they spent a lot of time in recent years at the bottom end of the table each year.
And during the years they have spent in the top flight they have unfortunately lost a lot of games giving them a place on this list.
How many games will they lose this season?
Another team that has recently been flying but has been let down by previous years is Aston Villa who are 3rd on this list.
Villa were one of the founding members of the Premier League. They have spent 29 years in the league overall.
However the year they went down they suffered 27 losses and during their poorer years in the league they often finished with high numbers. This adding up to a huge 412 English Premier League losses.
This is West Ham’s 28th season in the Premier League. And along the way they have lost 444 times so far.
The common theme here is that the longer you are in the Premier League the more you lose games. And with West Ham not very often being an incredibly high flying team during their time in the league it comes as no surprise that they are on this list.
Being so high on this list may be a surprise though - especially with the gap between them and 3rd placed Villa.
But at least they aren't at the top of the list.
The only team on this list that has been in the Premier League since the very beginning Everton top our list. And it comes as no surprise.
As previously mentioned, the common theme is that the longer you are in the league the more losses you have and with Everton spending so much time in the league and never really being one of the big hitters - they have only finished in the top 6 on 7 occasions - they have picked up a lot of losses along the way.
In recent years especially they have really struggled and so far this season they have lost all of the games they have played increasing their lead at the top.
Without relegation this number is just going to keep going up and up and extending their lead as the best worst team in the league’s history.
Will they ever go down?
