Which Teams Have Missed The Most Big Chances In The Premier League So Far?

19/09/24 17:44

We may only be four games into the Premier League season but we have already been treated to a lot of amazing action.

Plenty of goals have been scored already and the unpredictability of the league has been shown throughout. We are clearly in for an interesting season.

But while goals have been flying in plenty of chances have been missed as well. Big chances at that.

So today we decided to take a look at the five teams who have already missed the most big chances this Premier League season.

5th - Nottingham Forest - 8 Big Chances Missed

Nottingham Forest have started this season off very well. They remain unbeaten from the opening four games including shockingly beating Liverpool last weekend.

However, despite scoring four times already they have already missed a lot of big chances. Arguably chances that could have landed them higher up in the table than they currently are.

Overall in the opening four fixtures they have missed eight big chances. Maybe if those chances were converted they would have a 100% winning record right now.

Not to say that Forest have disappointed so far this season because they have been incredible thus far however with so many big chances missed it has us wondering what if.

4th - Arsenal - 8 Big Chances Missed

Next up is another of the league’s unbeaten teams so far Arsenal.

Currently sitting second in the table they look on for another season battling for the Premier League title. However that is not to say they haven’t missed their fair share of chances so far.

8 big chances missed so far this season is eye opening, especially when if they had taken those chances they could be closer to City in the table at the moment.

Changing this will be pivotal as they may come to regret missing those big chances come the end of the season as well.

3rd - Liverpool - 10 Big Chances Missed

Arne Slot has come into this Liverpool side and has brought with him an attacking positive brand of football. And with that comes plenty of chances. However it is those big chances missed that will surely annoy new manager Slot.

With 10 big chances missed so far this season Liverpool will need to start converting from their attacking style of play.

2nd - Aston Villa - 10 Big Chances Missed

Aston Villa take second place on this list with their 10 big chances missed.

Surprisingly this statistic is mostly carried by Ollie Watkins who is the player to have missed the most big chances in the league so far this season. Very unlike what we are used to from him.

Without Watkins’ chances missed this total goes down to four!

Unai Emery will hope for a change in form for his main man up front especially if this statistic is to change throughout the rest of the season.

1st - Manchester United - 12 Big Chances Missed

Somewhat unsurprisingly though it is Manchester United who claim top spot on this list.

They have missed an incredible 12 big chances so far this season. This is an average of three big chances missed per game.

What makes this all the more shocking is that they have only scored five goals so far this season. Imagine how different their campaign could be at this point had they finished some of those chances.
