Who Has Won August Player and Manager Of The Month In EFL League Two?

13/09/24 11:26

The first month of EFL League Two action was filled with incredible moments from a number of different teams. And now it is finally time to award the Player of the Month award as well as the Manager of the Month award for August.

The players nominated this month were: Connor Barrett (Walsall), James Berry (Chesterfield), Jodi Jones (Notts County) and Luke Molyneux (Doncaster Rovers).

With Mark Bonner (Gillingham), Stephen Clemence (Barrow), Johnnie Jackson (AFC Wimbledon) and Mat Sadler (Walsall) all being nominated for the manager award.

But which of them took home the awards?

EFL League Two August Player of the Month - Luke Molyneux - Doncaster Rovers

Tricky to deal with winger Luke Molyneux of Doncaster Rovers has claimed the award for player of the month in August.

Molyneux has started this season in exceptional form picking up from where he left off at the end of last season.

Often a handful for opposition defenders, Molyneux has proven to be difficult to stop so far this season. This as shown by his four goals and two assists in August. His goals in particular making him most standout as he sits top of the scoring charts in the division.

Picking up the award, the 26 year old said, “I’m delighted.

“This is something I’ve never achieved before and I’m glad I’ve picked it up for the month. It’s a great bonus to have this when the team is doing well.”

“I think it’s been down to confidence - building on last year and taking the momentum into this season. The players around me have helped massively as well… It’s been a good start but it motivates me to keep getting better.”

Molyneux will look to continue his start to the season throughout the season. But can he lead Doncaster to promotion come the end of the year?

EFL League Two August Manager of the Month - Mark Bonner - Gillingham

After an amazing start to the season that saw Bonner lead his Gillingham side to an unbeaten four games in August, Mark Bonner has picked up Manager of the Month for August.

The attacking play from Gillingham has been superb this season with much of the praise going to Bonner for implementing such a front foot style of football.

Gillingham appear energetic at all times and are always a threat with Bonner at the helm. This shows the perfect August that they had. And to implement such a style so early into his time at the club is something to praise massively.

“I am proud to receive the Manager of the Month award for August on behalf of the team having accumulated ten points from our first four games.” Bonner said on claiming the award.

“As a new team, early in our development together, it is testament to the work of everyone in and around the team and should serve as real encouragement to continue building on the path we have started, gain confidence from the results, be motivated by what is possible, and remain focussed on what is required.”

Bonner is certainly pushing Gillingham to new levels as they eye up promotion from the division come the end of the season. All it will take is continuing their superb start to the EFL League Two season.
