Who have Bayern Munich chosen as their new manager?

17/05/24 05:46

Despite recent speculation about the German’s future, it now appears that Thomas Tuchel will remain Bayern Munich boss past this season.

Florian Plettenber has reported that, although Bayern are considering other options, they are also negotiating a new contract with Tuchel to remain as head coach.

The former Chelsea manager took the reins in Munich in the last stages of the 2022/23 season, and secured the Bundesliga title on the final day of the season. However, this season has seen The Bavarians go trophyless for the first time since 2012.

Tuchel’s team was knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, thanks to a Joselu brace in the semi-finals. They were bested by Bayer Leverkusen in the race for the Bundesliga title, and were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by third tier side Saarbrucken.

After considering options like Roberto De Zerbi and Erik Ten Hag, Bayern have decided to offer Tuchel a new deal despite an unsuccessful season.

Bayern will need to open their warchest this summer, as Tuchel has demanded two positions in his side be filled before he commits his future to the club. Tuchel has asked the hierarchy to sign him a new playmaker this summer; along with a new defensive midfielder, which means we may see The Bavarians resume their Pursuit for Fulham’s Joao Pahlinha.
