Who is Giorgi Chakvetadze?

Watford have a surprisingly good start to the season under Tom Cleverley. With four games gone in the Championship Watford have three wins, finally dropping points in their last match against Sheffield United.

With many uncertainties going into this season, no one had picked Watford as a potential side to be in the race for promotion but after four games the Hornets are third in the table and have a real chance after their quality start.

Giorgi Chakvetadze is one player which we think deserves to be shouted about this season as the Georgian midfielder has started each match for Watford this season after signing on a permanent deal in January.

The midfielder reached his highest market value in 2019 just before the global pandemic, with an estimated value of 9 million Euros while at KAA Genk. With multiple loans and an eventual move to the Hertfordshie side the midfielder now has a value of 2.5 million Euros at the age of just 25.

Last season in the Championship Chakvetadze only managed a goal and 3 assists in 34 Championship appearances, but in the same team under Tom Cleverley he has a goal and an assists in just 4 Championship matches, reaches half of his goal involvements from last season in an eighth of the appearances.

When assessing his statistics and his player profile, Chakvetadze comes out statistically close to Jack Clarke and Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall as a midfielder. For most attacking stats he appears in the top percentiles when compared to midfielders, showcasing his top abilitity as a traditional number 10.

He has created the most chances in the Championship thios season with 13 so far in just four matches, giving him an average of 3.42 per 90 and also setting himself uo as one of the mist creative midfielders this season in Europe. If Watford are to be promoted, Chakvetadze is the exact type of player Watford will need and it is the perfect opportunity for the player to prove his worth on the biggest stage.
