Who will win the Premier League? | The English final day EXPLAINED

16/05/24 11:07

The awaiting final day of the 2023/24 Premier League season will draw to an end this Sunday with the champions of the Premier League still in question.

Manchester City will host West Ham in the final fixture in hopes that the home side will be victorious to claim their fourth Premier League title in a row and be the first team to ever do so in the history of the Premier League.

A draw or loss for Manchester City gives title contenders, Arsenal, a major chance to win their first league title since their 2003-04 invincible season. Arsenal will play Everton on Sunday in a game where it is expected that Arsenal will take home all three points in hope that West Ham have helped out their fellow London side to win the Premier League trophy.

It is all in the hands of West Ham to cause a major upset on the blue side of Manchester.

Manchester City’s 2-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was the first time that they have won there in the league since its grand opening in 2019. This win also puts City in pole position to win the English Premier League.

A brace from Haaland gifted City all three points in a tie that did cause large speculation.

Tottenham fans were seen wearing sky blue as they wanted City to win in order to prevent their fierce city rivals from edging closer to their first league title in 20 years. The loss against City meant that Spurs will be without Champions League football after England lost out to Germany and Italy for gaining a fifth club to enter the Champions League next season.

West Ham’s previous game was a 3-1 victory over Luton Town which has edged the newcomers on the verge of relegation. West Ham found themselves 1-0 within the opening six minutes but managed to find themselves three goals in the second half to take all three points.

Team news

Manchester City will be hoping to see Kevin De Bruyne fit to play but the midfielder was taken off against Spurs on Tuesday night after saying that he “could not run properly”.

As for Ederson, the goalkeeper suffered a nasty clash with Spurs defender Romero which resulted in Stefan Ortega taking the Brazilian’s place.

Both players are being assessed and may be fit for Sunday’s final day clash.

As for West Ham, Kalvin Phillips will be out with an injury but was going to be ruled out of the clash as the home side is his parent club.

Aguerd and Mavropanos are likely to be ruled out after suffering from recent knocks.

Score prediction

City need to win to break history…again. There is no doubt that Arsenal will win against Everton therefore City need to come away with a result.

City have all eyes on the prize that is the Premier League trophy and they will not be holding back as they will do whatever it takes to secure all three points in a must win game.

West Ham have missed out on European football next season therefore the Hammers do not have anything meaningful to play for going into this game.

My prediction is 3-0 City. Haaland brace and Foden to put the cherry on top.
