What happened in the Turkish Super Cup Final?

Fenerbahce forfeited Sunday's Turkish Super final in response to the actions from the Turkish FA.

Mauro Icardi put Galatasaray a goal up within the first minute, causing Fenerbahce's under 19 side to walk off the pitch in protest, and forfeit the game.

Why did Fenerbahce storm off the pitch?

The most recent issue between Fenerbahce and the Turkish FA occurred very recently. Fenerbahce requested for this very game to be postponed so that they weren't rushed into the Europa Conference League quarter-final tie away to Olympiacos this Thursday. That request was rejected by the Turkish Football Association.

Prior to that, Fenerbahce had threatened to withdraw from the Turkish Super League completely after what they deemed as poor treatment from referees during matches.

In a game against Trabzonspor in March, Fenerbahce once again questioned the FA after their own players were attacked by opposition fans. Former Chelsea and Crystal Palace striker Michy Batshuayi defended himself with a karate kit against one fan, whilst former QPR player Bright Osayi-Samuel punched one attacker.

In response to the FA's handling of this game, Fenerbahce sent their reserve team to play one of the biggest games in the Turkish season, against their biggest rivals.

What did Galatasaray do?

Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi put his side a goal up within the first minute of the game, causing Fenerbahce to leave the field. The Galatasaray players then applauded the actions of the opposing team, and continued to play a match amongst their substitutes and reserve players.
