29/07/24 16:49

Artem Dovbyk, a key man for Girona in their heroic title challenging season last year, is expected agree personal terms with Serie A side Roma within the next couple of days.

Football Park rated tier one source Fabrizio Romano has reported that Roma have officially bid a package worth €35 million with add-ons included. The two clubs are in direct discussions over personal terms as Dovbyk has given his say so over the deal. The contract should have him staying in Rome until 2029.

Fellow La Liga side seemed to have been close to attaining the Ukrainian’s signature no more than a week ago, but that saga has made a u-turn. Atlético de Madrid initially offered a package worth €40 million and just awaiting an agreement on personal terms.

Romano has gone on to say that Dovbyk’s agent revealed that the offer that Atlético Madrid presented was “significantly lower in financial terms” to the other clubs interested in him.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that a key factor in this move to Roma has been manager Daniele De Rossi has been on the phone to Dovbyk several times, trying to convince him to chose Rome over Madrid.

With Roma losing the loan services of Romelu Lukaku, replacing him with a striker that achieved 25 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions last season, is not a bad bit of business at all.
