Why Manchester United Want £70M Rated Jarrad Branthwaite
Jarrad Branthwaite has had a rollercoaster of a career to say the least.
From Carlisle United to an England international with a sprinkle of Champions League football in between.
The Everton centre-back now finds himself the topic of discussion for one of the world's biggest clubs, having agreed personal terms with Manchester United.
According to Fabrizio Romano, who Football Park rate as a Tier 1 source, Everton have no intention to sell the defender for anything less than £70m.

Nothing advanced so far between clubs; Everton have NO plans to sell him for less than £65/70m fee.#MUFC have 3 more options.

Branthwaite was ever present for Toffees during the 2023/24 campaign registering 12 clean sheets in 35 Premier League appearances - winning the clubs Young Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.
Branthwaite would start his career at Carlisle United, signing a professional contract at the age of 17.
The youngster would make 14 appearances, scoring one goal during the 2019/20 season before being snapped up by Everton in January 2022.
Having made just five appearances for the Toffees, Branthwaite was sent on loan to Championship side Blackburn Rovers for the 2021/22 season. However, an injury would cut his season short after ten appearances for the Riversiders.

A season abroad was next on the agenda for Branthwaite, as Eredivisie side PSV would reach an agreement with Everton for a season-long loan.
The Englishman would make 36 appearances and score four goals for the Dutch side - winning the KNVP Cup in the process.
“I could have gone to the Championship, but I just fancied a different challenge,” said Branthwaite. “It’s (the Eredivisie) a really tough league but Everton wanted this move as well and it’s a big league with a big team.”
Branthwaite would make his Champions League debut while in the Netherlands, as PSV faced off against Monaco in the qualifying rounds.
“He is a great talent. The boy is 20, but he has a future. He is good on the ball, can play on the left or the right of centre-back because he is two-footed. He has height and speed, so he is very complete.”

Having returned from an impressive spell abroad, Branthwaite was given the opportunity to establish himself amongst the Everton faithful.
A second successive season at the top level would catch the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate, who would name the young defender in England’s provisional 33-member squad for Euro 2024.
In a centre back, I look for:

- Aerial dominance,
- A patient but intense/aggressive approach in ground duels,
- Leadership qualities to hold the line,
- Mobility,
- Braveness to demand the ball,
- General quality in possession.

Branthwaite would make his England debut as a substitute in a 3-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2024.
The 21 year-old’s omission from the final 26-member squad for Euro 2024 caused quite the stir with many believing England had made a mistake.
"Lots of bigger names than Jarrad Branthwaite have missed out on the England squad, but he should've been picked to go to Euro 2024” said former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher.

Compared to England centre-backs John Stones, Lewis Dunk, Marc Guehi and Harry Maguire - Branthwaite leads the way in tackles per match (1.9), clean sheet average (0.4 per match) and minutes played (3,117).
Branthwaite’s top speed of 35.1 km/h is also faster than his peers - ranking eighth out of all Premier League central defenders.
Despite no Euro 2024 appearance for the youngster, it sure seems like it’ll be a busy summer for the Everton centre-half.
