Szczęsny began making a name for himself by joining up with the Legia Warsaw first team at the age of 15. This obviously grabbed the attention of the footballing world leading to what was a huge move for him in 2006 to Premier League side Arsenal.
Leaving his hometown at the age of 15 was a massive step for the young goalkeeper but to be involved in the Arsenal set up was massive and something he couldn’t refuse.
Szczęsny would be involved in the youth set up for the Gunners until 2009 where he made his Premier League debut for the club in a 2-0 win against West Brom in the Football League Cup.
He would go on to make 181 appearances for them keeping 72 clean sheets

His time at Arsenal was very successful going on to win 2 FA Cups and a community shield title with the Gunners but it is his 2013/14 Premier League Golden Glove award that is most standout for us.
Szczęsny would make 37 Premier League appearances for Arsenal that year keeping an astonishing 16 clean sheets during that time. This awarding him with the Golden Glove award after finishing joint top with then Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Considering Arsenal finished 4th that year behind Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea this was an incredible achievement for the then 24 year old.
Happy Retirement, Wojciech Szczęsny 👏🧤

Szczęsny would leave Arsenal in 2017 joining Juventus where he spent 7 years and certainly achieved the most.
Notably during his time at the club he would win 3 Serie A titles in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20. Similarly to his FA Cup wins these were all back to back.
During the 3 seasons where Juve won the title, Szczęsny would keep 33 clean sheets being a key part of “The Old Lady’s” strong defence.

One of those title winning seasons, 2019/20, Szczęsny was particularly successful going on to win the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Season award.
This season saw him keep 11 clean sheets from 29 appearances. This a 37.9% clean sheet percentage - more than any other keeper with 10+ appearances in the league that season.

Being successful at club level is one thing however being successful on the international stage is even better. Something that Szczęsny did somewhat achieve as well.
The Poland national team of course isn’t the most successful when it comes to World Cup and Euros campaigns however in 2022 Szczęsny would win Polish Footballer of the Year - beating Robert Lewandowski for the award as well.
This surely was one of the proudest moments of Szczęsny’s career. To be recognised by his country would have been huge for him and certainly worth mentioning as a highlight of his career.
