Wolves Agree David Møller Wolfe Exit

David Møller Wolfe has agreed to join Hamburg, with Wolves allowing the defender to leave on a season-long loan which includes an option for the Bundesliga club to make the move permanent.

UPDATE: Hamburg have agreed a deal to sign Wolves left-back David Moller Wolfe.

It’s understood the clubs have agreed a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy.

The Norway international has arrived in Germany to undergo a medical with the Bundesliga club.

Wolfe is already in Germany, with the 24-year-old Norwegian international travelling to Hamburg to undergo his medical ahead of completing the move.

Playing time is a massive factor in this deal. Despite Wolves being relegated to the Championship, Wolfe has not established himself as their first-choice left-back and has remained behind Hugo Bueno in the pecking order.

A move to Hamburg should give Wolfe a much clearer route to regular first-team football at an important stage of his career.

Hamburg Move Could Give Wolfe Fresh Start

Wolfe's performances at the 2026 World Cup make his situation particularly interesting. He was regularly involved for Norway as they reached the quarter-finals and demonstrated his ability on one of football's biggest stages.

At only 24 years old, Wolfe needs consistent game time if he is going to continue developing, and he has already shown that he possesses plenty of potential.

It is therefore surprising that Wolves have not given him more opportunities in the Championship this season, particularly after his impressive performances for Norway during the summer.

Wolves are currently reshaping their squad following relegation from the Premier League, and Wolfe now looks set to become another player heading through the exit door.

From Wolfe's perspective, the move could make plenty of sense. Hamburg can offer him the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga and potentially establish himself as a regular starter rather than remaining further down the pecking order at Wolves.

If he impresses during his season in Germany, the option to buy could eventually provide Wolfe with a permanent route away from Molineux.
