Wrexham Launch Bid for Barnsley's Creative Star

Wrexham Plot Final Swoop for Barnsley Star

Wrexham have launched an official bid for Barnsley star Davis Keillor-Dunn as they seek some final reinforcements from the late stages of the January transfer window, according to FootballLeagueWorld.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has notched 11 goals for Barnsley this term and has played a starring role since his arrival from Mansfield Town in the summer of 2024.

After continually displaying his talents down in League One, Championship promotion hopefuls Wrexham are looking to add the Sunderland-born attacker into their ranks with an official bid now having been officially launched.

DKD A Wrexham Target

Keillor-Dunn will be available to purchase from Barnsley if any interested club matches their valuation of the 28-year-old, though there has not been any indication just yet as to whether or not Wrexham have matched this value or if Barnsley are planning on accepting their bid.

One thing is for certain, and that is that this story certainly has legs. Wrexham have held a long-term interest in the Barnsley star and were expected to do battle with Bristol City over his signature back in the summer, but neither side managed to get a real foothold into a potential deal. Keillor-Dunn had just finished his maiden season with Barnsley at the time, having bagged 18 goals and seven assists in all competitions the campaign prior to that.

Wrexham do still have competition for his signature this time around, too, as Preston North End are trying to steal in for his signature and reportedly sent in a higher bid initially. As Wrexham have answered back, it is presently unclear as to whether either side has met that asking price yet.

From just 23 divisional appearances, DKD has bagged 11 times this season for the Tykes under the watch of former Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane - almost a third of their 37 League One goals this term.

Whilst Barnsley are struggling to put together consistent results from the bleak mid-table, there is a growing feeling around the club that Keillor-Dunn has outgrown the side he is in at this stage of his career, and Barnsley fans are beginning to believe that the former Mansfield star is set to make the jump into the second tier without them.
