Xavi Simmons Set To Decide His Future After The Euros

After his fantastic season with RB Leipzig, Xavi Simons has decided to leave PSG on loan again next season.

Whilst he initially wanted to make a decision before the Euros, the uncertainty around interested clubs forced him to postpone his decision till at least after the competition ends.

The 21 year old has a clause in his contract with PSG which allows him to go on loan to a club of his choice. He has garnered a lot of interest from clubs across Europe after his excellent spells at PSV and Leipzig.

As per reports, the Dutch midfielder is especially interested in returning to his boyhood club, FC Barcelona. Xavi was a sensation at La Masia and gained prominence there from an early age. He was also extremely popular on social media and looked set to be the club’s next superstar, before his shocking departure to PSG. And apparently, the 21 year old has his heart set on returning to the Catalan capital.

He belongs to the same generation as players like Alejandro Balde and Pablo Gavi as well as Fermin Lopez, all of whom are now established members of the first team. The player would love to return and play with his academy mates.

However, as of today, it is difficult for Barcelona to send in any proposal for him because of the lack of clarity surrounding their La Liga Financial Fair Play regulations in the summer.

They expect to eventually return to the 1:1 rule, which would make a potential move for the midfielder likelier.

Hansi Flick is also an admirer of the player and believes that he would fit into his system well. The situation is expected to become clearer in the coming weeks.

Bayern Munich are also huge admirers of the player and would like to try and sign him for the club. His good Bundesliga performances as well as versatility is valued by Vincent Kompany.

Xavi Simmons could see a return to the Bundesliga with positive eyes, as RB Leipzig is also interested in the player.

Xavi has now joined the Euros Camp for the Netherlands team which should temporarily put all his transfer negotiations on hold.

Any interested clubs would also have to speak with PSG before a transfer can be finalised and hence a final agreement is expected to come about after the Euros.

Nonetheless, it’s going to be a busy summer for Xavi.
