Youssouf Fofana Agrees To AC Milan Move

10/07/24 17:01

French international Youssouf Fofana has just agreed personal terms with AC Milan today after spending four years at Monaco in Ligue 1.

Fabrizio Romano, whom Football Park rate a tier one source for reliability, has reported that he has accepted the personal terms the Italian club have offered. A €30 million bid was put in by Premier League side Nottingham Forest last year, but that was rejected by Monaco.

Fofana played a bit part role in France’s Euro 2024 campaign amassing 39 minutes, all coming off the bench and was unused in ultimately their last game against Spain the semi-finals. Domestically however, he was a crucial player in that defensive midfielder slot. He racked up 4 goals and 4 assists from 32 league appearances.

Over the course of the last 365 days, per 90 minutes he has averaged 8.31 progressive passes, 1.30 successful take-ons, 1.74 shots and 3.34 shot creating actions. His style of play and the statistics that he as put up suggests that he is comparable to Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández and Aston Villa’s John McGinn. If that’s the case, then AC Milan will have a great talent on their books.

This will be the first time that the 25 year old will have ventured out of Ligue 1 so adapting the new opponents, culture and management team might prove difficult in his early days. New Milan manager Paulo Fonseca was at Lille for 2 years so he will be all too familiar with the way Fofana plays and how good he is after coming up against Monaco a few times in that span. Once he is settled in though, Youssouf will be more than capable of showing the levels of performance that peaked AC Milan’s interest in the first place.
