Zinedine Zidane Set For Coaching Return

Zinedine Zidane’s legacy in football may be unmatched. As a player, he retired as one of the greatest players ever. As a manager, he won 3 consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid from 2016-2018 before eventually leaving the job. He then returned to Real Madrid for a short stint before leaving again and he has been on a break since.

As per reports, Bayern Munich are now in a position to appoint the Frenchman as their new manager. The Bavarians have struggled massively this season, shockingly losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen. Whilst they are currently competing in the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel has already announced his decision to part ways with the club at the end of the season.

Bayern have been looking at many names ever since Tuchel’s departure became official. Names like Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann have all been heavily mentioned in the media but apparently Zidane is the chosen one. His CV speaks for itself and he would command a certain respect in the locker room and his incredible record in the Champions League is a huge plus.

Zidane has reportedly had many offers to return to management since his departure from Madrid in 2021. However, the Frenchman has rejected them all so far. Reports say that he has been flattered by Bayern’s interest and even tempted because he really respects the German club having faced them multiple times as a player and coach.

Any appointment would have to confirmed in the coming weeks because Bayern want the new manager to spearhead the squad revolution expected at the club in the summer. Whilst Zidane is quoted to be a favourite, there are other strong options as well including Ralf Ragnick. It will definitely be an eventful next few days at the club for sure.
