Joe Ryan - Features Journalist at Football Park

Joe Ryan is an emerging voice in football journalism known for his insightful storytelling. A journalism graduate from the University of Kent, Joe is a trained NCTJ journalist in which he received a silver award.

In 2025, Joe was shortlisted for the Hugh McIlvanney Student Football Writer of the Year Award, recognising his ability to craft nuanced, emotionally resonant stories that go beyond the scoreline.

His work spans topics such as the cultural impact of football gambling, the enduring legacy of Manchester United’s 1957 European Cup clash with Athletic Bilbao, and the 2024 Subbueto World Cup.

At Football Park, Joe has produced more than 50 articles where he has interviewed the likes of the United Strand and Karel Prince.

Joe has also attended an Athletic talent ID day where his mentor, Craig Chisnall, works.
