With just five games to go of the Premier League season, the race for the final three Champions League places is heating up, with Chelsea one of those teams in contention. They host 13th placed Everton at Stamford Bridge this Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca’s Blues have been as inconsistent as they come recently, defeating Tottenham, and drawing to Ipswich, while losing to Legia Warsaw. The defeat to Warsaw left Maresca looking bemused however, the well-fought victory over Fulham last weekend has left them in touching distance of Champions League football next season. Out of the five remaining teams who are fighting for those spots, it will not be easy for Chelsea as they have a very difficult run-in.
As for Everton, they have looked reinvigorated by David Moyes, losing just three times since he was appointed in January. Their form has allowed them to climb above the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham. They have a favourable run-in playing both Southampton and Ipswich, so will look to end the campaign on a good note.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
Here is everything you need to know in order to watch Chelsea vs Everton via television and live streaming platforms.
TV channel
You will be able to watch this match on Saturday afternoon on TNT Sports and be able to catch the highlights on the TNT Sports YouTube channel.
Chelsea Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Cucurella, Colwill, Chalobah, James; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Madueke; Jackson.
Malo Gusto is doubtful for this match, with Wesley Fofana and Marc Guiu both still sidelined. Mykhailo Mudryk is yet to return from his ban.
Chelsea have won twice, drawn twice and lost once in their last five matches. Their sole loss coming against Legia Warsaw in their Conference League quarter-final. The Blues did still make it past them, winning 3-0 in the first leg in Warsaw. Their past three league matches have been a 0-0 draw with Brentford, a 2-2 comeback draw against Ipswich and a late-winner from Neto sealed a 2-1 victory over Fulham.
Tyrique George could be an option off the bench for Maresca. The 19-year-old has scored his first two senior goals recently, both in victories over Legia Warsaw and Fulham. Madueke and Jason Sancho have both impressed in Europe and the league respectively, so will look to carry on to help the Blues push onwards in their climb up the table.
Everton Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Mykolenko, Branthwaite, O’Brien, Patterson; Gueye, Garner; Ndiaye, Doucoure, Harrison; Beto.
Armando Broja will be unable to face his parent club for this fixture. James Tarkowski is also expected to miss out, alongside Calvert-Lewin, Mangala, and Lindstrom.
Everton have won just once in their past five, losing and drawing twice. A victory over Forest with a 94th minute Doucoure winner was the highlight of the Toffees in recent games. They have lost 2-0 and 1-0 home and away to Man City and Liverpool, as well as two home draws to Arsenal and West Ham. With five draws in their past eight games here too, this fixture looks like it could be a close affair.
Everton’s 40 goals conceded this term has heavily come down to Jordan Pickford’s outstanding performances in net. He is always rated around seven on most football sites, however, he will not want to remember his last visit to Stamford Bridge, where he made mistakes in a 6-0 thrashing.
Head-to-head is tight as mentioned before, with Chelsea coming out on top twice, Everton winning once, with the other two ending in draws. All of their previous five meetings have been played in the Premier League.
Recent Meetings:
As seen from recent meetings, this game is almost a coin toss. We would not recommend going for a goal bet as a priority either as only once have both teams score, however, it is in general an even game, especially in the first half.
Therefore, we have gone for HT Draw, FT Chelsea to Win as the best tip for this match.
(odds subject to change)
Chelsea 2-0 Everton
I believe this will be a close game in both halves, but Chelsea should have enough quality to take the game away from Everton in the second 45 minutes and continue their push for Champions League football.
