As the Scottish Premiership begins to draw to a close, clubs north of the border are beginning to lock in their final hopes for the 24/25 campaign.
Aberdeen is one such club, with The Dandies facing the task of securing European qualification with two games left to go. Their task won't be a simple one, as it comes with a necessary visit to Rangers and a hosting role against Celtic, should they wish to chase down St. Mirren for a Europa League space or hold onto 4th for a Conference League trip.
However, with the aforementioned Celtic already crowned champions in dominating fashion, success will be no easy feat for Jimmy Thelen's side.
You can catch this fixture on Sky Sports Football. Kick off will be at 8pm on Wednesday, 14/05/25.
Aberdeen Predicted Lineup: Mitov; Devlin, Tobers, Knoester, Shinnie, Palaversa, Clarkson, Keskinen, McGrath, Morris, Nisbet Aberdeen can be rightly pleased with their efforts so far in the Scottish Premiership. Having finished in the bottom half last season, writing off their chance at playing in Europe this term, getting back onto the European stage is very much in their hands in the final matches of 2025.
A disappointing defeat to St. Mirren, courtesy of a winner from Mikael Mandron, staggered their hopes of a Europa League spot, and consecutive games against Rangers and Celtic will do little to settle any nerves.
Their record against Celtic will not help them in their cause, either, having failed to beat their pending visitors in 5 different attempts, spanning across 3 different domestic competitions.
With tight fixtures and an underdog demeanour on Abderdeen's cards, they'll need to pull off a big stunt to claim a win against Celtic.
Celtic Predicted Lineup: Schmeichel, Ralston, Trusty, Scales, Taylor, Engels, McGregor, Hatate, Kuhn, Maeda, Idah Brendan Rogers' return to Celtic Park has been a richly successful one. Returning to the club in 2023 after 4 years in the Premier League with Leicester City, The Hoops have won back-to-back league titles, may potentially win back-to-back Scottish Cups, and picked up the Scottish League Cup along the way, grouped in additionally with a run to the Round of 32 in the Champions League.
They have nothing to play for on their trip to Aberdeen (granted, they haven't had anything to play for for a while) given their 20 point lead at the top of the tree, but that has done little to stop them from picking up impressive wins in recent weeks, including a run in April wherein they struck 15 goals in just 3 games, conceding only once.
Their form leaves Aberdeen as the underdogs for this fixture, especially when considering their formidable record over The Dandies this season already.
Last five meetings:
With Aberdeen at a need to take risks, and with their visitors dominant when it comes to scoring, we can see plenty of goals flying in this fixture.
That's why our expert football betting tipsters have predicted that Over 2.5 Goals may be the betting line to follow for this one. You can grab this market at a decent price of 1.62 over at Betfred.
Celtic's prowess should be too much for Aberdeen to handle here, despite their need for a big win. We're going with a 3-1 scoreline, going the way of Celtic.
