Sunday’s Serie A action see’s an AC Milan side in full flow take on a goal shy but stubborn Fiorentina side in the evening kick off.
AC Milan, who currently lie in third, are undefeated in their last four league games, while Fiorentina, though placed in 11th, have only lost one game in all competitions this season.
As this intriguing and difficult to predict fixture approaches, here is all the information you need to know ahead of kick off.
Fiorentina Predicted Lineup (3-4-2-1): David De Gea (GK); Cristiano Biraghi, Pietro Comuzzo, Albert Gudmundsson; Robin Gosens, Rolando Mandragora, Yacine Adli, Dodo; Edoardo Bove, Jonathan Ikone; Moise Kean.
While the home side have struggled to string any wins together, their defensive form deserves credit. The addition of free agent David De Gea has almost certainly bolstered the teams confidence at the back, and so far Fiorentina have managed to restrict opponents to a draw in four of their six league games.
Their attack has also been impressive, and poor finishing at crucial moments is a significant contributing factor to their lack of points. Former Everton and Juventus striker Moise Kean has four goals already this season, and can certainly more than worry the Milan back line.
AC Milan Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Maignan (GK); Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Emerson Royal; Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek; Rafael Leao, Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic; Tammy Abraham.
Sitting third in the table and just two points off the top, Milan have had an excellent start to the season, consolidating their second place finish last season. As a bonus, they have also played 3 of the top seven already, and have a friendlier run of fixtures coming up that could push them right into title contention come mid season.
However, they have fallen to defeats in both of the opening two Champions League fixtures, firstly against Liverpool, and most recently against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night. While it is naturally a more difficult competition, and losses shouldn't be taken too harshly, Milan will certainly be wounded after a subpar start to their European campaign.
However, if they can regroup and put in a solid performance here, then Fiorentina could be in for a long night.
Last five meetings:
Historical Head to Head since 2010 - Fiorentina: 9. Drawn: 6. AC Milan: 13.
Despite the obvious gulf in quality between two sides in the lowest and highest tiers of European competitions respectively, this match could be a lot closer than the average bystander would give it credit for.
Fiorentina are unbeaten at Stadio Artemio Franchi so far this season, and have only conceded three goals in the league here. Meanwhile Milan have won just one game away from home this season in all comps, a 2-1 win against Inter Milan at what is both sides' home ground.
Fiorentina loo likely to push Milan to the limit with their organization and counter-oriented attack, and we think the best call for this game is a draw, which would be an unhelpful result for both sides.
Fiorentina 2-2 AC Milan
With AC Milan involved, goals are always likely. However, Fiorentina have made a habit of equalling their oppositions tally, and so if Milan are their typically potent attacking selves, Fiorentina look likely to hit back to however many are scored.
With Fiorentina’s good defensive record, Milan are likely to be limited to two or less, making Fiorentina’s task that little bit less daunting.
