When we think of Uganda we know there's a rich sporting history there but often we don't consider it as a huge footballing nation.
This may well be on the way to changing as the national team are seemingly getting better and better with some huge results being recorded in the past few years.
Furthermore the nation is set to become joint hosts of AFCON 2027 as the CAF have confirmed that the tournament will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
With this hugely exciting news on the horizon for the nation it only seems fair to recap some of their greatest ever footballers as the sport grows bigger and bigger.
A versatile player Wasswa often swapped between playing in defensive midfield and centre-back dependent on where he was needed.
He had a wide spread career playing across Africa, Türkiye, Egypt, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia amongst others.
Wasswa was also able to record 75 appearances in the Ugandan national team throughout his career before he retired in 2021.
Currently Miya plays as an attacking midfielder for Greek 2nd division side, Ilioupoli but before this he had a far travelled career that has helped make him a favourite amongst Ugandan fans.
His career began in the top flight of Ugandan football with Vipers before he earned a move to Belgian club Standard Liege where he managed 3 appearances and 1 goal before being loaned around and eventually moved to Croatian side Gorica.
Since then he has played in Türkiye, Ukraine and now in Greece which has helped earn him 79 international caps and he has shown return in this with 23 goals scored for the national side.
Musisi began his career as one of Uganda's top prospects quickly getting a move to the domestic top flight at just 17 years of age.
After a while of tearing up the Ugandan league, French scouts spotted him and paid $180k to bring him to Stade Rennes where he was a prolific scorer bagging 28 goals in 51 games.
Musisi was also prolific for the national team, across 29 games he was able to bag 20 goals.
Yet another forward in this list is Geoffrey Massa who was a hugely prolific striker across African football.
He retired in 2017 but before this he was able to rack up 69 appearances for the national team and 22 goals including some vitally important tournament qualification goals.
Now retired Robert Sejemba was a huge player in his playing days.
Nowadays he is the coach of Weyland Baptist University's men's soccer program over in the USA.
In his playing days Sekagya filled the role of centre-back and has had one of the most illustrious careers out of any player on this list.
He played in the Argentinian top flight before moving to Austria to become a backline mainstay with 165 games played for Red Bull Salzburg, before capping his career off at New York Red Bulls.
Currently he is assistant manager of New York Red Bulls with what looks like a potentially impressive managerial career ahead of him.
Another defensive entry onto this list is Joseph Kizito who had an impressive career mainly playing in Serbia.
During his time at Vojvodina he was voted as the fan's player of the season in the 2005/06 season.
He was able to amass 39 appearances for the national team across his 10 year career for them.
Scottish football fans may be likely to recognise this name as he became a fan favourite during his time at Hearts but outside of this Obua also had a mightily impressive career.
He achieved 58 caps for the Ugandan national team and perhaps his biggest achievement in this time is managing to become the record holder for the all time goal scoring record in the World Cup and Afcon qualifiers.
Going back in time a little for our next entry is iconic Ugandan footballer Phillip Omondi whose career spanned the 70s and 80s.
His standout achievement was being instrumental to the sides famous AFCON 1978 run to the final in which he was the nations top scorer.
At 40 years old goalkeeper, Denis Onyango is still playing football and further establishing himself as Uganda's greatest ever footballing talent.
In 2016 Onyango truly established himself as the best talent from the nation by winning the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns, being ranked 10th best goalkeeper in the world for that year and being named as the 2016 African based African player of the year.
