There’s no rest for the wicked when it comes to the Premier League - just two days after the weekend’s action draws to a close, the fixtures start again as we prepare for some midweek action, with Bournemouth vs Brentford the highlight of the gameweek when it comes to which game is most unpredictable.
Both sides have been in superlative form of late – Andoni Iraola’s Cherries are in the midst of a nine-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, while Brentford have made an impressive surge towards a surprise European spot, having won five of their last nine. Neither outfit will want to give up their impressive form, so this game promises to see a high-tempo, end-to-end contest that could go either way. Here is everything you need to know ahead of kick-off.
After going through a festive period in which they couldn’t buy a win, things have turned on their head spectacularly at the Vitality Stadium. The arrivals brought in during the January transfer window have just taken off a little stress from the rest of the team, and it’s starting to show in results.

With the core members of the squad receiving some unfamiliar and much-needed rest, the Cherries have been on a roll in their last five, dominating Wolves in an away victory, and extremely unfortunate to only take a point from their clash with Aston Villa.
A superb second-half comeback to win against Everton further illustrated the character within the squad, and while their two most recent games have ended in draws with West Ham and Sunderland, the scoreline could very well have been three or four goals in Bournemouth’s favour had the finishing just been fractionally more clinical.
Their recent streak has lifted them up into 10th place, 14 points clear of the drop zone, and well within striking distance of the European chasers, with sixth-placed Chelsea just six points ahead.
Brentford have looked like the real deal over recent months, losing just three games since mid-December. That is the sort of form you’d expect of serial Champions League qualifiers, and that’s the level the Bees are currently competing at.
Their last five games boast a plethora of fine results, kick-started by a superb 3-2 win away to Newcastle United, sealed with an 85th-minute Ouattara winner. This wasn’t just a flash in the pan either, as next time out, Keith Andrews’ side restricted Arsenal to a draw, giving the Gunners a taste of their own set-piece medicine in the process.
The Bees then plotted their way into the FA Cup fifth round with a tricky 1-0 win over Crystal Palace cup slayers Macclesfield, before seeing their undefeated streak broken by a tame performance at home to Brighton, who themselves had been in desperate need of a win.
However, they righted the wrongs from the last game with a dramatic 4-3 win away at Burnley, a game in which they led 3-0, were pegged back to 3-3, briefly found themselves 4-3 down before a goal was disallowed, and eventually won with a 93rd-minute Mikel Damsgaard finish, securing a vital three points.

"He’s a unique player; for me, he is the type of player who should be allowed to play with freedom. He needs that confidence to play his way. He’s had a slightly disrupted season but his talent is of a high level and you saw that on Saturday" pic.twitter.com/4qZuBw6wWR
The win kept them in seventh, which by itself looks set to be a Europa Conference League spot. They have been performing above all expectations this season, and they deserve no less than their lofty position.
In terms of the last meeting between the two, this came back in early December and occurred just as Brentford started to put together their impressive form. The Bees ran out as dominant 4-1 winners on that occasion, with Kevin Schade netting a superb hat-trick accompanied by a Djordje Petrovic own goal.
Now-Man City star Antoine Semenyo netted a consolation goal for the Cherries.
Bournemouth Predicted Starting XI: Petrovic; Jimenez, Hill, Senesi, Truffert; Christie, Scott; Rayan, Kroupi, Tavernier; Evanilson.
Bournemouth have managed to sustain their impressive unbeaten run in spite of a plague of injuries, a plague which is still ongoing.
In attack, the Cherries have been particularly hindered, missing Justin Kluivert and Ben Doak, while Evanilson, who came on and netted an equaliser against Sunderland at the weekend to keep their unbeaten streak intact, is a doubt after picking up a knock.
Midfield maestro Lewis Cook and up-and-coming left back Julio Soler round out Bournemouth’s injury list, severely affecting their strength in depth.
Brentford Predicted Starting XI: Kelleher; Kayode, van den Berg, Ajer, Henry; Jensen, Henderson; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago.
Brentford have been marginally less affected by injuries but nevertheless are still missing five members of their first team to injuries of varying severity.
Vitaly Janelt and Reiss Nelson could be fit for this game, with their respective calf injury and unknown knock now in their recovery periods, but those who will certainly not make the kick-off on Tuesday are Aaron Hickey, Fabio Carvalho and Josh Dasilva, all of whom are out until at least May.
Both sides have been bang in form and have both shown their credentials to beat the big teams. Neither has been all that secure at the back either, suggesting there will be no shortage of goals.

However, Brentford have been marginally more clinical in front of goal, and with Igor Thiago ending his duck against Burnley last time out, their best attacking asset has rediscovered his form, spelling bad news for whoever faces him. It will be a monumentally close match, but Brentford will pinch all three points, likely in added time.
