The weekend culminated in another success for Europe in the Ryder Cup, with the US denied of a sensational comeback. It was Shane Lowry who slotted the defining points for Europe, retaining the trophy.
But let's forget about all that, this is the Football Park after all. Let's have a look at the stars of the Ryder Cup, the best golfers in the world, and see who they pledge their allegiances to!
One of the star players of the tournament, Shane Lowry has long professed his love for Manchester United. The Irishman has been extremely vocal about his support for the club over the years,
Despite his unwavering support for the Red Devils, Lowry has also expressed love for his local team, Shamrock Rovers, and on occasion he has been invited to the ground to watch the Irish side.
🏌🏻♂️ Congratulations to Shane Lowry on his incredible putt on the 18th to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe 🇪🇺

Born and raised in Merseyside, it's no surprise that Tommy Fleetwood is a Toffee! Well, he could've been a Kopite.
Fleetwood recently won his first PGA Tour event, racking up an impressive £10 million in prize fees, Many Everton fans believed this meant he would be having a field day on his first trip to the newly built Hill Dickinson Stadium. In fact, Tommy Fleetwood won his first PGA tour event on the same day the stadium opened - Some coincidence!
HAS THERE BEEN A PARADIGM SHIFT FROM THE SPORTING GODS?

Rory McIlroy has been around for over a decade, and it is no secret that the face of the PGA Tour video games is a lifelong Red Devil. Back in 2014, McIlroy won the British Open, and he was invited to Old Trafford to parade the trophy at halftime in a match against Swansea. Let's just say Louis van Gaal's miserable team selection wasn't the only talking point from the game, with McIlroy's choice of suit raising many eyebrows.
This weekend saw McIlroy praise his fans as they sang his name to the tune of many famous football chants, yet again expressing his love for the Manchester side. If only they had been as successful as him over the last 10 years, eh?
“As a boy I dreamt of playing at Old Trafford and having those songs sung about me. I just didn’t know they’d be sung to me on a golf course” 🏟️

The Spanish golfer is currently ranked number 3 in the world, having won 2 major championships. Born in Barrika, Basque Country, Spain, it is no surprise that Jon Rahm is a devoted Athletic Bilbao fan.
Often invited to games, Rahm was named an ambassador for the club during their 125th anniversary celebrations.
Jon Rahm. #TheMasters Champion. Proper Football.

Ah, the first golfer to support a proper club (Author's note), Justin Rose's biggest achievement in golf was winning the U.S. Open back in 2013. In 2020, the Johannesburg-born Englishman was invited to Cobham to take on Chelsea legend John Terry in a putting challenge around the training ground.
Rose was the clear winner, much to John Terry's distaste, however there was no love lost for either parties, and Justin Rose remains blue through and through. Justin Rose has also played with another Chelsea legend, Gianfranco Zola.

Hatton and Fleetwood put their football club's rivalries to one side to help Europe lift the Ryder Cup this weekend - If only the footballers could do that!
Tyrell Hatton is a devout Liverpool fan, a "die-hard" if you will. His golf clubs were engraved with the initials "YNWA" throughout the tournament, and his other pieces of kit included the French words "Allez Allez Allez", referring to the famous chant.
Swedish golfer Ludvig Aberg is also a big Red, often stating that Steven Gerrard was his childhood hero. Furthermore, the Swede professed that one of his saddest recent memories was the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
