AFC Wimbledon vs MK Dons - A Breakdown Of The Last 5 Meetings
Tomorrow afternoon, AFC Wimbledon play host to their long time rivals, MK Dons at Plough Lane. Here is a recap on the previous 5 meetings between the two sides:
A 94th minute winner from Wimbledon’s Ronan Curtis gave the home side all 3 points and their first victory over their fierce rivals in the previous years. A game which saw MK Dons have the majority of the ball but were unable to do much with it. Wimbledon were not much better but the clinicality of Irishman Ronan Curtis gave his side the edge over their bitter rivals as his goal saw his shirt come flying off resulting in him ending up in the referees books.
A game to forget for everyone involved at AFC Wimbledon. MK Dons dominated possession once again but this time round, very clinical. Goals from Kemp and O’Hara and an own goal from Johnson gave MK Dons the victory.
Consolation goal from Armani Little was too little too late for Wimbledon especially after Huseyin Biler and Paul Kalambayi saw red, in yet another meeting, just after the hour mark.
One goal a piece gave both sides a point each in this affair. Goals from Owen Woodyard and Troy Parrott prevented either side from leaving with all 3 points in a game, once again, dominated by MK Dons but the lack of finishing in the final third prevented both sides from coming out on top.
Outstanding affair between the bitter rivals. A performance that MK Dons may see as bitter sweet as they took home all 3 points but their lack of quality in the final third prevented them from demolishing Wimbledon. Matthew O’Riley was the difference maker as his goal in the 29th minute was enough to see his side through the 90 minutes and bring victory back to Milton Keynes.
Wimbledon saw red as Nesta Guinness-Walker was sent off in the 36th minute after a double yellow card for a harsh challenge.
A convincing win away from home for MK Dons and a difficult defeat for Wimbledon to take on the chin. A very dominant display saw MK Dons walk away victorious after a Matthew O’Riley converted in the 60th minute and Matthew Sorinola scored just 2 minutes later. Cameron Jerome assisted both of them.
Another derby, another difficult and struggling Wimbledon leave without a victory against their rivals. A fantastic performance from MK Dons and the stats are there to back it up as well. 64% possession, 8 shots, 3 on target, 2 goals.
