Who is Benjamin Cremaschi? Discover Spurs’s Hot Midfield Target

It is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur are scouting out new talent to repair a squad riddled with errors and continuing doubts in players.

Sat down in 14th in the Premier League table, Tottenham’s midfield has been a cause for concern with Pape Matar Sarr dropped from the starting XI with a run of poor performances on top of continuing struggles from Mali international Yves Bissouma.

Turning to the market for next season, Tottenham have implemented a new strategy which has seen their side focusing on investing in youth and building a team for the future.

The Inter Miami academy graduate has caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou and his side, as he becomes the latest Premier League side to enter the race for the signature of Benjamin Cremaschi.

The USA Youngster’s Rise to Stardom

Benjamin Cremaschi is a 20-year-old midfielder currently residing in the Inter Miami first team.

He burst onto the scene, starting his career at the U-16’s side of Weston FC where he would play a pivotal role in their success. Helping Weston FC claim the MLS NEXT Cup in his inaugural season, he would also pick up the Golden Ball as he was determined the best player of the tournament.

Joining the Inter Miami academy in 2021, Cremaschi shone right out of the gate and made quick work of the U-17’s, aiding in their journey to the semi finals of the Generation Adidas Cup. His brilliance on the ball earned him a call up to the MLS Next All-Star Match where he would find the back of the net to ensure his team could fight back to victory.

In 2022, he would make his professional debut for Inter Miami CF II, racking up an impressive five goals and one assist from 13 matches.

His excellent technical ability at such a young age began turning heads, earning him a call up to represent both of his respective nations, featuring at U-20’s level for both USA and Argentina. His father, Pablo, was especially happy with the call up from Argentina, as he represented Argentina during his professional rugby career.

At just the age of 18, Cremaschi earned his spot in the Inter Miami first team, playing along side the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez and has since gone on to make 57 appearances in the MLS and counting. Collecting six goal contributions in his first season, head coach Javier Mascherano has continued to express his delight in his youngster.

Given the nickname ‘The Prince of Messi’s Miami’, Cremaschi has ensured that his linkup play with his forwards has been next to perfect to help Inter Miami reach domestic success.

Benjamin Cremaschi: Football Favourite

Huge names of the sport have expressed their passion over the potential they see in the phenomenal youngster.

The first player to express his love for Benjamin Cremaschi is none other than his teammate and one of the greatest players to ever play the sport, Lionel Messi. MLS expert Matt Doyle expressed ‘Messi apparently loves the kid’ as Cremanschi improved his game drastically in his second season at the club.

With the backing from a great like Messi, it has further pushed teams such as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City to monitor his performances extra closely.

Lionel Messi is not the only player to endorse Cremaschi, With USA stars Christian Pulisic and Tim Ream also impressed by the youngster. The Fulham defender describes him as a ‘sharp and technical player’ with Pulisic backing this statement saying, ‘there is a lot of potential there’.

Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has also expressed his love for the youngster, with Cremaschi already featuring twice for Pochettion’s USA Men’s National Team. Noticing comparisons to his game with the likes of Tottenham’s James Maddison, Postecoglou is desperate to pair the two in what would be a venomous attack for the London side.

What are Spurs’s Chances In The Race For His Signature?

Tottenham is a very exciting option for Cremaschi, given his heightened ability at box-to-box which is what the Lilywhites have been lacking.

However, he has sparked the interest of other Premier League clubs who are currently boasting a better record, with the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle also keeping tabs on Benjamin Cremaschi.

Another setback for Tottenham in the hunt for the USA international is Benjamin Cremaschi is under contract at Inter Miami until 2027, with the option to extend for another year. Spurs will struggle to pull him out of this contract as it is not everyday you have the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi. On top of this, Cremaschi has expressed his happiness to play close to home and remain in close proximity to his family.

While a deal may not be done this summer, it is very likely that Benjamin Cremaschi will bring his talents to Europe and would be an exciting protégé under Postecoglou.
