The festive football season is here at last! December’s Premier League fixtures get underway with a bang this week.
All eyes look North on Tuesday night to St James’ Park, well, except Tottenham fans who are more likely to be hiding behind the sofa.
This fixture pits together two teams at opposing ends of the form spectrum and features a manager under rising pressure in Thomas Frank.
Will Eddie Howe’s Newcastle extend their Premier League winning streak to three against a side they typically thump at home? Or will Spurs continue to rely on their away performances to bring points back to North London?
We have teamed up with talkSPORT BET for this guide, piecing together a bet builder which accumulates to a staggering 29/1 (29.0) odds high risk option! With thorough research and thought, we believe this guide will help you create a bet builder of your own, or even latch on to ours!

Eddie Howe has coached four competitive home games for Newcastle against Spurs. He has won all four by an aggregate scoreline of 14-2. If that doesn’t spell out trouble for Thomas Frank and Co., then I’m not sure what does!
This run of results includes the infamous 6-1 thrashing Spurs faced under interim boss Cristian Stellini. The Italian quickly departed the club a day later after his side went 5-0 down inside 21 minutes.
The Lilywhites have already travelled to St. James’ Park this season, losing 2-0 in the EFL Cup a little over a month ago. Since then, Tottenham have played six games, losing four, drawing once, and winning once. They have notably scored in five of those six games, offering plenty of goals (12, to be exact) but little on the results front.
Due to Tottenham’s ‘spursy’ form in the Northeast, backing Newcastle in a bet builder is the preferred option, with the double chance (Newcastle or Draw) option a safer choice.
The Magpies have scored in 14 straight games (all competitions). They look a shade of the team who endured three goalless draws in their opening five Premier League games, with players like Harvey Barnes and Nick Woltemade both getting on the score sheet regularly.
Newcastle have not been on a goalscoring run like this since November 2024 - February 2025, when they scored in 17 fixtures on the bounce. A streak that included a 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The attentive amongst us will have realised that both Barnes and Woltemade are backed to attempt at least two shots on target in this game. Barnes has started Newcastle’s last five games, despite competition from Anthony Gordon for a place on the left wing. He has scored four goals in his last four games, including a game-winning brace against Manchester City. The 27-year-old has had six shots on target in his last three games, averaging out as two per game.
Woltemade has started all 10 of the Magpies’ games this season and has attempted two shots on target in each of his last two Premier League starts against Everton and Manchester City. As the Toon Army’s primary centre forward, he is more likely to have two shots on target than Barnes. However, both are extremely likely to start the Spurs game and have proved in recent contests that they are capable of making multiple accurate efforts on goal.
Newcastle’s 14-game goal-scoring run, combined with Tottenham finding the back of the net in 17 of their 21 competitive fixtures this season (81%), makes this encounter the perfect opportunity to place a both-teams-to-score bet as well.
The last time Spurs went a whole 90 minutes without receiving a card was against Everton on October 26th. There have been seven games and 21 cards brandished Tottenham’s way since then, averaging out at 3 per game. Therefore, a cheeky over 2.5 cards for Tottenham Hotspur bet seems fitting for this match.
Newcastle United pair Dan Burn and Bruno Guimaraes have started 12 of the Magpies’ 13 Premier League games so far. Burn failed to be present for the Manchester City game due to yellow card accumulation. Guimaraes was benched for the Bournemouth meeting in September after coming back from an international break with Brazil.
The duo both rank in the top six players with the most fouls committed in the Premier League, committing 23 each in 12 games (1.92 per match). Neither committed a foul against Everton last time out, so they are more than overdue if their record remains correct. Because of this, any bet involving Burn and Guimaraes picking up a booking is a smart one, especially when they are fired up in front of the St. James’ home crowd.
