Football Park’s Week Of Betting | Hull vs Middlesbrough Bet Builder Tips & Predictions

Football Park’s Week Of Betting | 2/12/25 | Hull vs Middlesbrough Bet Builder Tips & Predictions

The festive period is upon us - games every three days, transfer rumours swirling once again, and for football fans, a non-stop drip-feed of information on their favourite game for an entire month.

A dream for fans, a nightmare for players, and an overall stressful time for clubs as a whole - that’s how I would sum up the Christmas period.

One of the Championship’s key weekend fixtures sees Hull City take on second-placed Middlesbrough, as both sides search for some consistency in their form.

Both sides have won just two of their last five, but both will feel confident ahead of this one, having both secured wins last weekend - Hull sealed a 2-1 win at Stoke with a dramatic 90th-minute winner courtesy of Joe Gelhardt, while Morgan Whittaker’s late finish sealed all three points for Boro at home to Derby.

Sitting in second place, Middlesbrough are running two races - one to stay ahead of the chasing pack behind them, led by Millwall, who are two points back, while they are also attempting to close the gap to runaway leaders Coventry, which currently sits at 10 points.

Hull, meanwhile, find themselves just a point off the play-off places, and if they can just find some much-needed consistency, they could transform themselves into legitimate promotion candidates with a win here.

With so much on the line for both sides, it is only right for you to put something on the line too - tailored for both high-risk and low-risk, you can hand-pick your strategy from a list of Football Park’s best bets. So, without further ado, here is Football Park’s Hull City vs Middlesbrough bet builder.

Why We Are Backing This Bet

Low Risk

Tiger Triumph: There is no question that Hull, alongside table-toppers Coventry City, are the great entertainers in this season’s Championship. 18 goals have been scored across their last five matches, and the 60 goals their fixtures have accumulated thus far are beaten only by Coventry’s 68.

Though the Tigers currently occupy ninth, their home form places them seventh in the league, and though Middlesbrough boast the eighth-best away record in the league, the MKM Stadium is always a tough place to come and visit - they have tasted defeat here just once in their last seven. We can see them picking up at least a point.

Goals for Both Sides: Hull’s 30 goals scored is the second highest figure in the Championship, while Middlesbrough have only failed to find the net three times in their 18 fixtures this season, with two of these coming away from home.

If both sides' last 10 games are taken into account, 15 of them featured goals for both sides, and across the last six meetings, only one has ended with a side drawing a blank. History indicates that there will be goals at both ends.

Carefree Cards: In the Championship card standings, only Preston and Derby County boast a higher total than Hull’s 41 - remarkably, they have avoided being shown a red card so far this season, with all of these being yellows.

Furthermore, the Tigers have been shown two or more cards in each of their last two games, meaning that if momentum existed in the world of cards, Hull would have it.

High Risk

Boro to Bite Back: Despite Hull’s unimpressive home form and tendency to make each game a goal-fest, Middlesbrough are second for a reason. Yes, their form recently has raised some questions, but in spite of that, Kim Hellberg’s side are two points clear of Millwall in the automatic promotion spots.

If Boro wish to signal their promotion intentions, then this is the sort of game that they need to win. There is clear character within the squad, and if they can draw off that, they can notch a vital three points.

More Goals from Morgan: Say what you want about Middlesbrough’s recent form, but no-one can question the form of attacking midfielder Morgan Whittaker. The 24-year-old has three in his last three, and two of them have sealed an extra three points for his side. Without them, Boro would have drawn with Derby and lost to relegation fighters Oxford.

In all, Whittaker has five goals to his name, enough to place him 22nd in the Championship standings, and in the form he’s in, it’s hard to bet against him making it four in his last four.

Championship Thriller: The Championship has seen an exceptional number of goals already this season, and after taking a quick glance at the form of both Hull and Boro, you can make an educated guess that the goals won’t stop flowing here.

Combining both sides' last five games, 34 goals have been scored, an average of 3.4 goals per game, and in the already mentioned last six clashes between the two, an average of 3.2 goals have been scored per 90. We forecast mild weather, with a 90-minute shower of goals!
