Match Details: July 7th, 2025 | Estadio Germano Kruger | Brazilian Serie B | 23:00 GMT
A mid-table battle awaits Brazilian Serie A fans on Monday night, as 14th placed Operario look to inflate the gap between themselves and the drop zone when they take on 11th placed Chapecoense.
Both have lost three of their last five, leaving them playing catch-up to the rest of the league, and results for both sides need to turn around quickly if they are to have any hope of challenging for promotion come the end of the season.
Key Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score at 2.47 represents excellent value based on the tip provided by our in-house tipsters.
Operario Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Vagner (GK); Gabriel Feliciano, Miranda, Joseph, Diogo; Neto Paraiba, Juan Zuluaga; Rodriguinho, Gabrial Boschilia, Pedro Lucas; Vinicius Alessandro.
With no team news to speak of, Operario are expected to line up in much the same way they did in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Volta Redonda last time out. Though very much in the game, an 81st minute own goal courtesy of Joseph saw their chances of coming away with a point dashed.
However, a convincing 2-0 victory over Novorizontino in their previous game has lifted spirits around the club, and despite sitting just two 14th, just three points above the relegation zone, their sights are set on improvement, and it starts here against Chapecoense.
Chapecoense-SC Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Rafael Santos (GK); Joao Paulo, Bruno Leonardo, Eduardo Domachowski; Walter Clar, Bruno Matias, Rafael Carvalheira, Mailton; Giovanni Augusto; Neto Pessoa, Marcinho.
Chapecoense have shown great character in recent games, none more so than in the heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to league leaders Goias last time out. Leading from the 15th minute, they were in command of the game until a 63rd minute red card for Victor Henrique left them a man down with half an hour to play.
Goias keeper Tadeu equalised from the spot in the 89th minute, before Anselmo broke Chapecoense hearts in the seventh minute of added time, grabbing a dramatic winner. Chapecoense will be without Victor Henrique for this game, who will likely be replaced by Domachowski.
After a seventh placed finish in the Serie B last season, Operario are certainly underperforming, their current 14th placed standing far behind where they should be given last campaigns result.
However, the season before that, they had been competing in Serie C, and seventh placed last year was considered an over-achievement. This campaign should be viewed as an opportunity to consolidate their Serie B status - but that is only something they can do if they start to beat other mid-table clubs like Chapecoense.
Chapecoense will be the slightly happier of the two sides, as they currently sit 11th, four points back from the promotion spots.
With the table so congested - nine points separate 18th and 4th - Chapecoense knows that one win could see their position change completely. Should they pick up the win against Operario here, they could move as high as sixth.
The two sides have met six times since 2020, and worryingly for Chapecoense, they have only managed to come out on the winning side once in that time, handing Operario the psychological advantage for this fixture.
Their most recent meeting was the highest scoring of the lot - Chapecoense substitute foguinho equalised in the 91st minute to seemingly rescue a point, but Operario winger Maxwell struck the winning goal two minutes later to grab his side a vital three points.
Operario vs Chapecoense Recent Meetings:
In their last five meetings with Chapecoense, Operario have only ever dropped points once, an impressive record that will almost certainly be weighing on their upcoming opponents.
We must go all the way back to their first meeting this decade to find a Chapecoense win, an edgy affair that ended 1-0 thanks to an Anselmo winner in the 52nd minute. What makes the result even more impressive is that Chapecoense needed to play the last 10 minutes a man down, after Ezequiel was shown a second yellow card.
Operario Last Five Games:
One win in their last five, and it is clear to see that Operario have work to do. While their win was over third place Novorizontino, their level against lower ranked side has simply not been good enough.
Their last game in particular, a poor defeat to 17th placed Volta Redonda, was a difficult watch. Faced with a side they should be beating, they were roundly outplayed, and could only muster one shot on target as they were bossed by the relegation threatened home side.
Operario need to shake off the cobwebs - a couple more results like that, and they will find themselves in the relegation spots instead of Redonda.
Chapecoense Last Five Games:
Stubborn in their 3-4-1-2 set up, Chapecoense are committed to the plan, and there are signs it has begun to work. Yes, they may have lost to Goias last time out, but they were on the brink of a superb victory, only thrown away due to a moment of madness and some late drama.
Narrow defeats to Botafogo and Novorizontino were not part of the plan, but Chapecoense were very competitive for large spells in those games, and can be considered unfortunate not to come out with something.
There is certainly promise, and if they bring the level from the Goias game to this one, they will be favourites to come away with three points despite the disadvantage of playing away from home.
Our advanced algorithm analyzes over 200 data points to generate the prediction that the game between Operario and Chapecoense will see both teams score, as they play to a stalemate. The model factors current form, head to head records, player availability and tactical matchups.
Football Park’s best bet: Both Teams to Score - Expect Operario to be the better side throughout the game, but after a number of demoralising losses, and without Victor Henrique, they won’t come away from this one with any more than a point.
Gabriel Feliciano (Operario): By far and away Operario’s best player this season, left back Feliciano has been a menace up and down the left flank. Never afraid to get stuck into a tackle, and having provided two assists already this season, Feliciano is a tricky adversary at both ends of the pitch.
Mailton (Chapecoense): Able to play anywhere up the right hand side, Hamilton has found his niche as a right wing back in Gilmar Del Pozzo’s system. With two goals and four assists from the side this campaign, his direct running, lethal cut backs, and eye for a clinical finish will cause Operario all sorts of problems.

Stadium Details: Capable of holding 10 '500 fans, Operario’s Estadio Germano Kruger is a serious, old fashioned footballing cauldron. However, built in 1941, it is looking a little rough around the edges, and could do with some renovation to provide players and fans with more modern facilities.
